Primary responsibilities include advising on nursing related topics, including the requirements of Acute and Long Term Care policies and programs, and providing on-site consultation and support to the Acute and Long Term Care nursing teams. The resource nurse will collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to improve patient centered care and promote inter-professional practice. Strategies include identification of evidence based best practices and tools for risk assessment and management. Further, the resource nurse advocates for advances in the delivery of patient and resident care services. The resource nurse works collaboratively with Patient Care Management and Teams, Quality Services, Clinical Nursing Education and other regional partners to ensure that best, leading and evidence-based practices are used to provide high quality, safe care. This position is responsible for assisting with quality improvement work within nursing services and education within the nursing team. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Minimum 3 to 5 years experience working acute and long term care. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Licenses Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certificate (BLS-HCP) Knowledge and Abilities Ability to supervise and teach licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel Knowledge in LEAN management system Ability to competently use computers and software applications Knowledge in evaluating and leading process improvement projects Ability to identify opportunity for improvement and act as a change agent Ability to work under pressure and establish priorities Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to organize work load demands Ability to integrate clinical knowledge and experience into clinical practice Ability to apply system-level thinking in evaluating nursing practice/process. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other care providers Knowledge in quality improvement theory and methodologies Ability to maintain client/patient/resident confidentiality Ability to treat patients with compassion and empathy Ability to apply principles and techniques to achieve optimum resident care Other Information High level of accuracy is required in handling specialized equipment Kindersley is located approximately 200 km west of Saskatoon Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
