Description
Function as an integral part of the Clinical office staff. Responsible for obtaining intake information for a specific patient population, performing tasks and treatments as delegated by licensed personnel and direct patient care as required. Responsible for scheduling test and procedures ordered by the physician and providing limited patient education and instructions associated with these tests and procedures.
Responsibilities
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):
Engages in population appropriate communication.
Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate care for specific patient population including provision of direct patient care as part of the clinical team.
Maintain excellent relations with staff and physicians practicing in the clinical area while limiting actions to those within the scope of a Medical Assistant.
Obtain vital signs, EKG’s, laboratory specimens and other necessary information as required for proper evaluation of patient as requested by physician or nursing personnel utilizing universal precautions at all times.
Utilize Electronic Medical Record to consistently and thoroughly prepare patient charts for office visits per division and physician protocol.
Assists the physician in documenting notes and in doing orders and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record. All documents, prescriptions, and orders will be pended to the physician to review, edit, and sign as appropriate.
Prepare and maintenance of the clinic area to include but not to limited to: cleaning and stocking examination rooms, daily setup and securing of computer (laptops) equipment, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
Communicate with internal and external departments and agencies in a professional manner at all times.
Return routine patient telephone calls such as prescription refills or pre-certification for medication as directed from the Electronic Medical Record with appropriate and timely documentation regarding actions taken.
Actively cross-train into related departments to provide required support as needed.
Coordinate ancillary services such as diagnostic testing/imaging, hospital procedures and/or admission, additional patient visits, and acquisition of pertinent medical records.
Participate in division meetings to enhance communication, planning, problem-solving and sharing of resources in support of center operations, departmental and agency goals.
Maintain positive, professional and cooperative demeanor throughout all interactions with patients, staff, physicians and members of management.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Reports directly to the Manager and follows appropriate chain of command in regards to all issues regarding clinical department.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED required. Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Three years of healthcare experience required. Five years of healthcare experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with patients of all education levels.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to work without close supervision and to set own priorities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.</p>\n<p>Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.</p>\n<p>Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate care for specific patient population including provision of direct patient care as part of the clinical team.</p>\n<p>Maintain excellent relations with staff and physicians practicing in the clinical area while limiting actions to those within the scope of a Medical Assistant.</p>\n<p>Obtain vital signs, EKG’s, laboratory specimens and other necessary information as required for proper evaluation of patient as requested by physician or nursing personnel utilizing universal precautions at all times.</p>\n<p>Utilize Electronic Medical Record to consistently and thoroughly prepare patient charts for office visits per division and physician protocol.</p>\n<p>Assists the physician in documenting notes and in doing orders and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record. All documents, prescriptions, and orders will be pended to the physician to review, edit, and sign as appropriate.</p>\n<p>Prepare and maintenance of the clinic area to include but not to limited to: cleaning and stocking examination rooms, daily setup and securing of computer (laptops) equipment, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.</p>\n<p>Communicate with internal and external departments and agencies in a professional manner at all times.</p>\n<p>Return routine patient telephone calls such as prescription refills or pre-certification for medication as directed from the Electronic Medical Record with appropriate and timely documentation regarding actions taken.</p>\n<p>Actively cross-train into related departments to provide required support as needed.</p>\n<p>Coordinate ancillary services such as diagnostic testing/imaging, hospital procedures and/or admission, additional patient visits, and acquisition of pertinent medical records.</p>\n<p>Participate in division meetings to enhance communication, planning, problem-solving and sharing of resources in support of center operations, departmental and agency goals.</p>\n<p>Maintain positive, professional and cooperative demeanor throughout all interactions with patients, staff, physicians and members of management.</p>\n<p>Maintain strict confidentiality.</p>\n<p>Reports directly to the Manager and follows appropriate chain of command in regards to all issues regarding clinical department.</p>\n<p>Perform other duties as assigned. </p>",
