Description SUMMARY: Responsible for and assisting the drivers in removing pallets and product from trailers when they return from delivering product to the members. Marking and recouping returns and returning the product to the pick slots where it can shipped to our members. General warehouse sanitation duties. Shift : TBD. Days off TBD. Pay rate : $24.57 per hour This position supports AWG's mission to remain firmly committed to our long-established mission statement: "Our mission is to ensure the success of our member retailers and provide opportunities to our employees. This will be accomplished by satisfying the customers', and our member retailers', needs for quality supermarket merchandise and superior support services. We will do this with high quality employees whose mission is to provide the lowest possible cost of goods in order to ensure our members profitability, competitiveness and continued growth." ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual must have the ability to perform the responsibilities listed below. The list is not all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper management but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position. It is the responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members to support their efforts in increasing same store sales and profits. Responsible for separating good pallets from bad and Chep pallets from wood. Responsible for maintaining accurate counts of Chep pallets as they are loaded to go to Chep storage to keep an up-to-date inventory. Responsible for segregating all returns by department to insure it’s placement back to correct area. Insures freezer boxes are cleaned before storing them on a trailer. Insures VMC returns are loaded with the totes where they can be returned to the VMC warehouse. Receive and load product which goes to the reclamation center. Having the equipment available for the drivers to unload their trucks. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Recoup and mark grocery returns for return-to-stock using the WRAPS system and return the product to the pick slots. Verify returned product is not out-of date or short dated before marking. Responsible for running a batch report for inventory control to add the product back to the system QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A reasonable accommodation will be considered according to the ADA if it would not impose an undue hardship on the operations of the business without significant difficulty or expense. The accommodation would permit a qualified employee the ability to perform all essential functions of the job within the safety and company guidelines of the position. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma preferred; prior warehouse experience plus warehouse mobile equipment operating experience preferred. Basic required competencies: Conscientiousness, detail oriented, safety minded, self motivated to achieve, high initiative, ability to work with limited supervision, team oriented, learning and applying information, ability to follow instructions in English (both written and verbal). LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and speak fluent English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence relating to position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic math and algebra. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Posses the ability to work with coworkers and gain mutual respect with a common goal of increasing sales and profitability. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate safely warehouse mobile equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions providing a hardship is not required of the company or membership. Indoors, with adequate cooling, heating, and adequate lighting. Outdoors as needed. Working in warehouse environment with moderate noise due to industrial mobile equipment operation and varied temperatures based on assigned work area. Temperatures will vary based on outside temperatures for the non-air-conditioned section and cool temperatures ranging from -15 to the upper 40's for the perishable sections. This position's basic purpose is to use all available resources to assist the Distribution Department in continuous growth and financial success of the Membership and Company.
