Scope:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician - Automation will support the operation of various electro-mechanical production machinery, equipment and tooling. Automation Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems along with Automation Engineers. The Automation technician will be responsible for completing changeovers, adjustments, repairs, and preventive maintenance requirements. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation will follow directions from supervisors, schematics, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, engineering specifications, method sheets, and SOPs to troubleshoot malfunctions and assist in the maintenance and safety requirements of the production equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer- Automation will work in coordination with broader team to develop machine user requirements, Statements of work for vendors, validation documents and execution of machine build and validation for new equipment.
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician - Automation will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our electro-mechanical equipment and machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of electronics principles, programing, running machines as well as the ability to perform electro/mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance tasks. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation must be detail-oriented, analytical, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. Must relate machine automation with Genomic principles and lab techniques for lab processes and chemistry.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and machinery to identify faults and potential issues. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Troubleshoot equipment and machinery to diagnose malfunctions and determine the appropriate course of action. Repair or replace defective electronic parts, such as sensors, switches, circuit boards, and wiring, using hand tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic software. Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and engineers to develop and implement maintenance procedures and protocols. Document maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks, accurately and comprehensively. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with electronic equipment and machinery. Stay updated on advancements in electronic/automation technology and participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge. Ability to run and provide basic programing of automated equipment.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
2-5 years in a technical field related to equipment maintenance or related Job experience and laboratory technical experience. Technical school background or science based bachelor degree. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of electronics principles, digital and analog systems, programing and troubleshooting techniques. Strong understanding of mechanical principles and the use of basic hand tools for troubleshooting and repair. Knowledge of fluid dispensing/mixing, programming and electrical systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and specification sheets. Able to communicate and coordinate tasks through to implementation. Understanding of lean processes. Minimum of three years of machine/electronics maintenance experience in a medical device/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Minimum of two years of Laboratory work experience in Genomics. Knowledge of, and commitment to, safety requirements for machines and facilities.
Work Environment:
Occasional lifting of up to 35 kilograms may be required. Ability to work in uncomfortable positions, when required. For example, when repairing various manufacturing equipment. #LI-KA1
