This includes classroom teaching, student assessment, practicum coordination, and supervision. The instructor plays a critical role in preparing students for successful entry into the massage therapy profession by maintaining academic standards, supporting student success, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. The RMT curriculum aligns with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) standards and provincial accreditation guidelines. All instructors must comply with college policies and relevant professional regulations.</span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Arial_EmbeddedFont, Arial_MSFontService, bold\">RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Theory Instruction (In-Person or Online – if applicable) </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Deliver engaging, effective instruction based on the CMTBC-aligned RMT curriculum. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Prepare lesson plans, presentations, and instructional materials that meet learning objectives and engage diverse learners. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Administer and grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and practical assessments to evaluate student progress. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and evaluations in accordance with</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">College policies. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Advise and support students on course content, program requirements, practicum readiness, and career pathways. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment consistent with healthcare education best practices. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Participate in curriculum development, instructional planning, and ongoing program improvements. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Practical/Lab Instruction (if applicable) </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Facilitate hands-on practice sessions aligned with theoretical content and program competencies. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate massage therapy techniques and protocols, coaching students on proper procedures and client care. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Evaluate student performance in practical settings, ensuring safety and professional standards are maintained. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain lab/classroom equipment and ensure proper setup for sessions. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Provide individualized support to students during skill development activities. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Practicum Supervision (if applicable) </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Coordinate and supervise students during off-site practicum placements according to program guidelines. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Serve as the primary contact between the college and practicum sites, ensuring practicum standards and professionalism. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Observe and assess students’ application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in real-world settings. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Provide constructive feedback to students and complete required practicum evaluations and documentation. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">General Responsibilities (All Instructors) </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Monitor and discuss student progress and address academic concerns as needed. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Submit all required documentation, including attendance and grades, in a timely manner following institutional policies. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Accurately track and report student attendance and grades using college systems. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Attend faculty meetings and participate in program and college initiatives. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Participate in faculty performance reviews if required. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Arrange make-up sessions for missed classes due to illness or other valid reasons. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Comply with all college policies and procedures. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: principles and inclusive teaching practices.</span></span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Strong communication</span><span>, organizational, and interpersonal (CCHPBC)</span></span><span><span>.  </span></span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Kinesiology (MSAK) courses</span></span><span><span>: Lecture courses may be taught by professionals with extensive academic anatomy knowledge, including RMTs, physiotherapists, chiropractors, or others with relevant anatomy and physiology education. </span></span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>MSAK lab courses</span></span><span><span>: May be taught by professionals with extensive hands-on anatomy experience, including RMTs, physiotherapists, chiropractors, or similarly qualified healthcare professionals. </span></span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology lecture courses (including neurology)</span></span><span><span>: Must be taught by an RMT or by a professional with extensive experience and proven knowledge in these subjects.
