The Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PFSCM) focuses on strengthening and managing secure, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable global supply chains to enhance health and well-being in low- and middle-income countries by increasing access to quality and affordable health products. Overall responsibilities
The Director Strategic Accounts is responsible for managing and expanding the relationships between PFSCM and donors, ministries and other strategic clients, as well as identifying new business opportunities and working with the Business Development Director to convert them into PFSCM’s products and services. This unit aims to maximize long-term revenue opportunities by becoming trusted advisers to clients and stewarding ongoing relationships.
The Director Strategic Accounts is also responsible to provide thought leadership and strategic direction on client relations best practices and to share them with staff. The Director Strategic Accounts is expected to provide direction and support for the full project management cycle of projects, and continuous improvement efforts, while upholding PFSCM’s quality standards.
Specific responsibilities
Oversee the direct client portfolio (varied funders/contracting mechanisms) from start of contract to end, including: project start up, implementation, and close-out; ensure supervision of the staff or team/s implementing direct client work, and timely submission of reporting to clients against deliverables and achievements against Key Performance Indicators.
Manage project performance according to the budgetary and contractual commitments outlined in the client contract(s), including any additional modifications or changes to the current scope of activities. Collaborate with the finance, contracts and legal counterparts or senior management team as needed.
Provide technical guidance to the Strategic Accounts team on supply chain and public health topics; this can include procurement, logistics, disease program or product characteristics.
Liaise and manage collaboration with other internal units to ensure effective and efficient execution for the projects within the Strategic Accounts portfolio, including direct support for project execution.
Lead and manage the PFSCM Strategic Account unit in full accordance with PFSCM policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
With the Strategic Account team, ensure there is a project management dashboard available with current data and information on the projects performance and status within the team’s portfolio.
Build relationships and provide cross-organization leadership and coordination to ensure a One-team, One-goal approach to project management.
Build relationships with clients based on trust and value, working with clients to help them improve their business performance, identify areas where PFSCM can add value, and develop long term strategic partnerships.
Contribute to PFSCM’s market intelligence and work with Senior Leadership and the Business Development Director to use the intelligence in pursuit of new business opportunities and growth for the Strategic Accounts portfolio.
Represent PFSCM at external meetings/conferences/trainings/webinars, supporting the organization to interface effectively with current and new business prospects.
Assist PFSCM leadership in coordination with the Business Development Director in prioritizing prospects/donors for cultivation and contribute to proposal development.
Manage the development and timely submission of contractually required reports; contribute to the development of and/or generate reports and other communication as required.
Monitor project financial management and financial performance, working with the accounting and finance unit; review financial reports prior to submission to clients.
Ensure appropriate performance management of the Strategic Accounts portfolio, and oversee the process of continuous improvement and participation as needed in the organizational Operational Excellence projects.
Ensure implementation of risk management procedures and policies in collaboration with other PFSCM units.
Qualifications
Professional and Technical Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in public health, project management, supply chain management, pharmacy or chemistry or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
10-15 years’ of diversified and progressive work experience in international public health, supply chain management, or pharmaceutical or medical technologies sales and marketing in middle or lower and middle income countries with significant experience or exposure to public health/health development.
Proven track record demonstrating leadership skills, customer relationship management capability, project management, budgeting, and resource management experience.
Significant experience and successful track record of enlarging organizations’ business portfolios.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with donors, non-governmental organizations, and local government partners.
Experience working in and/or with developing countries.
Experience working with international donor agencies or global suppliers is preferred.
Knowledge of the international pharmaceutical and medical supply public sector market, with specific reference to the commodities required for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and/or TB or other health areas is a plus.
Ability to work comfortably with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel and Planner, as well as, Google suite.
Experience with ERP or procurement/supply chain management software is a plus.
PMP, Prince, or other project management certification preferred.
Willingness and availability to travel, and perform other duties as needed.
Interpersonal skills/Communication
English fluency required; French and/or Spanish fluency preferred.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including internal and external stakeholders; Strong public speaking skills desired.
