    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Physician (Obstetrics/Gynecology), Fort Campbell, KY</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Occupying a generous portion of the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, Fort Campbell supports the fourth largest military population in the Army (and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense). The Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 5th Special Forces Group, and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment all call this base home. The Sabalauski Air Assault School (famed for being the “10 toughest days in the Army”), the Pathfinder Course, Rappel Master, and FRIES/SPIES Master are just a few of the other schools and qualification courses available at Fort Campbell.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>A majority of Fort Campbell is located in Tennessee, but the post office that serves the base is just across the Kentucky border, giving on post residents and the installation itself the designation of being located in Kentucky. Clarksville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY are the two larger towns that serve the base. The base boasts modern facilities including a huge new commissary, parks, splash pads, a Starbucks, and updated housing.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Clarksville is growing, but keeps a mindful eye on preserving its history and “small town” feel. It’s only about 40 minutes north of Nashville, and some areas between the two cities are gaining popularity for being “bedroom communities” for Nashville (ie. where you go to sleep). The low cost of living, home prices, and absence of state income tax are all perks to living in Tennessee. You get the rural, country lifestyle, but with the option of a thriving metro area just a short drive down I-24. Kentucky towns offer the same beautiful rolling hills, sprawling farms, and gracious Southern hospitality as Tennessee, but with a bit more land and a greater horse to person ratio. Into organic produce, pastured beef and forested pork?  (It’s a thing — we checked!) You can actually get to know your farmer or rancher, if you’re so inclined! The Nashville music scene bleeds into Clarksville, influencing the caliber of music at festivals, community concerts, karaoke bars, and even church ensembles. Austin Peay University provides an abundance of cultural, sporting, and community events. Parks, shopping, dining, wineries, breweries and entertainment options round out the fairly solid amenities that you’ll find here.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>(Downtown Nashville)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The local communities are friendly, laid back, markedly blue collar and <em>love</em> their military! The customs and values are a perfect representation of the “Bible Belt” on which it lies, so don’t make plans for a Sunday without checking if a business is open. For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>MAJOR DUTIES:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The primary purpose of this job is to provide a Physician who is board certified or board eligible in OB/GYN to carry a full range of cases, including the most difficult in the specialty, and provide consultative services to other staff members on difficult OB/GYN cases. Complicated cases requiring treatment or services for which existing hospital facilities are not adequate are referred to other civilian or military medical facilities.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>1. Examines, diagnoses, treats or prescribes course of treatment for OB/GYN patients including those of an unusually complex and difficult nature. Ascertains immediate needs as deemed necessary. Performs surgical procedures and assists in Operating Room (OR) under minimal supervision of the Chief, Obstetrics/Gynecology Service, guiding and directing the assisting physician, nurse anesthetist and nurses. Performs basic colposcopy and treatment of dysplasia on OB/GYN patients. Instructs and supervises other ancillary personnel in the care and treatment of patients. Administers and prescribes medicine and treatment. Records medical data or case history on prescribed Army Medical Department forms as required. Reviews and studies medical history and progress of patients. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>2. Exercises consultative responsibility of a high level of professional competence in the specialty areas of OB/GYN. Serves as a consultant in OB/GYN to other medical officers, primarily on the more complicated OB/GYN cases. Available on call to advise medical officers of procedures to be followed in the care and treatment of difficult cases, and to answer questions of ward personnel regarding management of hospitalized OB/GYN patients. Responds to OB/GYN calls in house and provides back up call for other obstetricians. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>3. Provides high risk ultrasound clinic to include Biometry, fetal surveillance and biophysical profile. Prepares basic infertility workup, evaluation and treatment. Provides basic perinatal risk management conferences and education for the staff. </p>\n<p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Basic Requirements:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>US Citizenship required</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Board Certified/Eligible</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.</p>\n<p> </p>",
