Headquartered&nbsp;in Akron,&nbsp;Ohio,&nbsp;FirstEnergy includes one of&nbsp;the&nbsp;nation's largest investor-owned&nbsp;electric systems, more&nbsp;than 24,000&nbsp;miles of transmission&nbsp;lines that connect the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic&nbsp;regions, and a regulated generating fleet with a total capacity of more than 3,500 megawatts.</p>\n<p><i>Onsite - Akron OH, Greensburg PA, Reading PA, Fairmont WV</i></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><b>About&nbsp;the Opportunity</b></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:5.05pt\">This&nbsp;is&nbsp;an&nbsp;open&nbsp;position&nbsp;with&nbsp;FirstEnergy&nbsp;Service&nbsp;Co.,&nbsp;a&nbsp;subsidiary of&nbsp;FirstEnergy&nbsp;Corp.&nbsp;[FEU&nbsp;Primary reporting locations are Akron, Ohio.</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:5.05pt\">&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Responsibilities&nbsp;include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>System&nbsp;modeling and data Synchronization&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;transmission and&nbsp;sub-transmission&nbsp;lines,&nbsp;system interconnections,&nbsp;transmission and&nbsp;sub-transmission&nbsp;substations and transformers to ensure system accuracy, results, and reliable operation.</li>\n <li>Support maintenance of FirstEnergy system models that reflect the most up-to-date system topology, ratings, impedances, and equipment capabilities and parameters.</li>\n <li>Ensure coordination of modeling information with applicable internal and external entities including FirstEnergy Operations, FirstEnergy Regional Planning, Neighboring Transmission Owners, PJM, Reliability<i>First</i>, and NERC.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Coordinate with internal stakeholders for yearly internal 5-year breaker duty studies as well as short circuit calculations for PJM or other Transmission Owner requests and PJM Queue studies.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Performing&nbsp;transmission modeling&nbsp;activities with&nbsp;the&nbsp;operating&nbsp;companies, other&nbsp;utilities, nonutility customer load/generation, PJM, and Reliability<i>First</i>.</li>\n <li>Discussions&nbsp;and&nbsp;resolutions&nbsp;to&nbsp;modeling&nbsp;discrepancies,&nbsp;questions&nbsp;and&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;concerns.</li>\n <li>Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.</li>\n <li>Actively participate on&nbsp;industry working groups&nbsp;and&nbsp;forums&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;the&nbsp;FirstEnergy is&nbsp;viewed as&nbsp;an engaged leader in transmission activities.</li>\n <li>Continually seek opportunities to&nbsp;increase&nbsp;internal and&nbsp;external&nbsp;customer satisfaction and&nbsp;broaden/deepen relationships with neighboring companies, PJM, Reliability<i>First</i>, and NERC.</li>\n <li>Promote a&nbsp;diverse&nbsp;and inclusive work environment that&nbsp;values an&nbsp;open&nbsp;exchange of&nbsp;ideas to&nbsp;promote innovation.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Performing transmission modeling activities with the operating companies, other utilities, nonutility generation, the Regional Transmission Organization (PJM), and Reliability Councils (Reliability<i>First</i>).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><b>Engineer II Qualifications include:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSCE, BSME) from an ABET accredited institution is required. Acceptable alternatives are: (1) a Professional Engineer’s (PE) License (2) a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution&nbsp;(3) a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or technical field of study (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.
