They have a very significant role in educating and communicating with clients about their pet’s health.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</strong></p>\n<p><u>Animal Care</u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Restrain animals during examinations or procedures</li>\n <li>Observe the behavior and condition of animals and monitor their clinical symptoms</li>\n <li>Assist with physical examination by obtaining temperature, pulse, and respiration data</li>\n <li>Clip nails and flush ears</li>\n <li>Prepare feed for animals according to specific instructions</li>\n <li>Prepare and administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian</li>\n <li>Administer anesthesia to animals under the direction of the veterinarian, and monitor animals’ responses to the anesthetics</li>\n <li>Prepare animals for surgery (intubation, preparing a sterile surgical site)</li>\n <li>Prepare procedure equipment and pass instruments to the veterinarian when needed</li>\n <li>Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery</li>\n <li>Administer emergency first aid</li>\n <li>Perform venipuncture and catheterization</li>\n <li>Perform dental work (cleaning, polishing, and extracting teeth)</li>\n <li>Dress wounds and apply bandages</li>\n <li>Provide assistance with animal euthanasia and disposal of remains</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u> </u></p>\n<p><u>Client Communication</u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Discuss medical health with clients, such as post-operative status </li>\n <li>Ask questions to clients to obtain a thorough patient medical history</li>\n <li>Explain medical discharge instructions and patient home care to clients</li>\n <li>Provide information or counseling with issues such as animal health care, behavior problems, and nutrition</li>\n <li>Answer client questions thoughtfully and accurately</li>\n <li>Explain treatment plans to clients</li>\n <li>Accurately calculate and quote services and procedures</li>\n <li>Schedule appointments and procedures </li>\n <li>Demonstrate polite and professional conduct</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u> </u></p>\n<p><u>Laboratory and Diagnostics</u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collect, prepare, and label biological samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination</li>\n <li>Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, feces, and other samples to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient</li>\n <li>Prepare and take diagnostic radiographs using x-ray equipment</li>\n <li>Fill prescriptions, measuring medications computer work</li>\n <li>Comfortable around unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces</li>\n <li>Comfortable with exposure to animals including their actions and ailments </li>\n <li>Ability to lift up to 50lbs </li>\n <li>Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard</li>\n <li>Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time</li>\n <li>Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>\n <li>Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) preferred but not required</li>\n <li>2+ years veterinary experience OR equivalent combination of experience and education</li>\n <li>Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process
