The teacher will stress rigor through text selection, cross-curricular connections, and well-designed assignments that challenge students to think critically and creatively. This teacher will provide students with instruction that focuses on the Latin language as well as its related cultures and modern uses. The teacher will thrive in an environment which balances the rigorous pursuit of Latin studies and enrichment with the necessary focus on the remediation and development of learners. The teacher will promote and nurture the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study; monitoring, assisting with, and correcting academic efforts; and providing a safe environment conducive to learning and character development. </span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 15px\">The teacher will perform the following duties:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Plan, develop, and deliver a college preparatory curriculum that is aligned with PA Common Core standards and best practices. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Assess students regularly and use data to drive instruction as well as to provide remediation and enrichment based on individual student need and ability. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Communicate students’ progress toward realizing academic goals, partnering with parents and school personnel to provide instructional and emotional support and resources.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Build a classroom environment that is welcoming, academic, joyful, and safe. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Commit to the school’s extended day structure, serving students outside of the regular school day, and teaching in the Saturday School and summer academy programs. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Sponsor extracurricular activities as part of the school’s award-winning Leadership Academy.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Enforce the Student Code of Conduct and serve as a culture keeper of the Boys’ Latin mission.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 15px\">The teacher will demonstrate the following competencies:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Unwavering commitment to the school’s mission of preparing boys for success in college and beyond.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a teacher and professional to drive results among students. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Willingness to be flexible and go above and beyond to meet the needs of all students. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Ability to cultivate strong relationships with all members of the school community, including students, parents, faculty and staff members, administrators, and external partners. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Be a subject area expert, strategic problem-solver, and dedicated team player. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13px\">Bachelor’s degree and PA state certification. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\"><strong>The Boys’ Latin Way</strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 10pt\">Founded in 2007, Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia is a college preparatory school across two campuses educating boys in grades 6-12.   The mission of Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia is to prepare boys for success in college and beyond.  Every member of the Boys' Latin community stands as a vital part of the village that nurtures our young men's individual and collective success toward this mission.
