Description
The Patient Account Representative I is responsible for the timely and accurate follow-up of insurance and patient accounts to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services rendered. This role supports the revenue cycle by reviewing accounts receivable, resolving billing issues, and communicating with payers and patients to facilitate payment and account resolution.
Responsibilities:
Perform follow-up on assigned accounts receivable to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients.
Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments.
Contact insurance companies via phone, payer portals, or correspondence to determine claim status and payment issues.
Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting documentation as required.
Identify trends related to denials or payment delays and escalate concerns to leadership.
Work accounts within departmental productivity and quality standards.
Document all account activity clearly in the patient accounting system.
Collaborate with internal departments including coding, registration, and clinical teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer billing regulations.
Assist with patient inquiries related to billing and insurance coverage when necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1 year of healthcare billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology, insurance guidelines, and claims processing preferred.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work within productivity standards.
Location : 1101 Samuel Wells Complex, Suite 1102, Jacksonville, FL 32216
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
