Overview Position Overview: Legacy Medical Group, part of the Legacy Health system is actively seeking a full-time sports medicine surgeon to join our growing orthopedic team serving the Central Willamette Valley region in the highly desirable Silverton community. This position offers a full-spectrum general orthopedic practice caring for patients of all ages. The incoming surgeon will step into a well-established clinical and surgical schedule with a balanced mix of acute injuries, fracture care, joint and soft-tissue conditions, as well as elective and trauma-related operative cases. Our department is recognized for its strong collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and we look forward to welcoming a surgeon who thrives in a team-based, patient-centered environment. In March 2024, Legacy Health completed a $37 million, 21,000 square foot expansion, which includes a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, as well as new and improved care spaces—reflecting a continued investment in both the community and clinical infrastructure. The Orthopedics & Sports Medicine team operates across Silverton and its satellite clinics in Keizer and Woodburn, providing comprehensive musculoskeletal services in the region including surgical care, fracture management, advanced non-operative, and operative treatments. Who You’ll Work For: Legacy Health is a seven-hospital non-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization with more than 70 primary care and specialty clinics across the Portland, Vancouver and Central Willamette Valley region. With a mission rooted in delivering comprehensive, compassionate care to all, Legacy is committed to clinical excellence, health equity, and supporting the well-being of our communities. As a Legacy provider, you’ll join a connected, mission-driven organization focused on teamwork, innovation, and high-quality care. Responsibilities Provides a full range of orthopedic care, to include general orthopedics and pediatric orthopedics, to patients of Legacy Health System. Such care is provided in an office, outpatient, or inpatient setting and includes the full and expected mix of patient problems and surgical approaches. Provides “non-trauma” coverage on an “on-call” capacity for Emanuel Hospital. Provides office follow up of orthopedic patients. Participates in the education program for OHSU orthopedic surgery residents. Participates in the Legacy Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs as appropriate for clinical practice. Completes medical records, coding and billing schedules and forms, and other needed paperwork in a timely fashion. Participates in Legacy research activities as appropriate. Works with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and elderly/geriatric patients. Participation in Level IV trauma call is required. Qualifications Education: Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent. Completion of ACGME accredited residency in orthopedic surgery. Fellowship in subspecialty area of orthopedic surgery preferred. Experience: Ideal for an orthopedic surgeon with a desire to be part of a growing orthopedic practice working with both adult and pediatric patients. Foot & Ankle or Hand subspecialty a plus. Two to three years experience in the management of orthopedic trauma preferred. Licensure Medical License for the applicable state. Membership on LPH Medical Staff. Board Eligible/Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. BLS certification through the American Heart Association ATLS required for trauma privileges.
