Organize. Vote. Empower. MOVE Texas was founded in 2013 by a small group of dedicated students at The University of Texas at San Antonio to increase participation in local elections (MOVE UTSA). Since then MOVE Texas has gone statewide to become one of the most effective voter registration and civic engagement groups for young people in the state . Our vision is to build the political power of young people to transform democracy in Texas and beyond. We are building the next generation of Texas leadership by teaching critical organizing skills to take them from voters to effective, lifelong organizers. Our theory of change is simple: develop new leaders, educate voters and create space for the changes we need to make so that our state can be a place where all Texans can thrive. Position Description MOVE Texas is hiring one part-time Campaign Organizer to build and lead the local volunteer infrastructure that powers our statewide campaigns. Working alongside MOVE Texas chapters and membership, your job is to grow our base by recruiting, developing, and coaching a group of Community Captains.  Community Captains are our local volunteer leaders who mobilize their peers, move people to take action, and organize their communities across MOVE Texas' electoral and issue advocacy campaigns. Through relational one-on-one meetings, consistent community outreach, and deep investment in local leaders, you will expand MOVE Texas's base in Webb County to build the kind of rooted, self-directed leadership that drives lasting change, locally and across Texas. Program & Campaign Details This role is part of a pilot Community Captain program in partnership with Texas4All and partner organizations across the political sector in Texas. The Community Captain program is designed to test a distributed leadership model in Webb county that strengthens our local grassroots infrastructure. The Campaign Organizer will directly support Community Captains (volunteer leaders) in planning outreach with infrequent voters, mobilizations, civic actions, and campaign activities Anticipated Start Date: May 26, 2026 End Date: December 2026 Region Served: Webb County Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Leadership Development & Base Building Recruit and develop up to 15 active Community Captains Conduct 10-15 relational one-on-one in-person meetings weekly to deepen relationships and move people into action Coach and support Community Captains in building their own base, organizing outreach efforts, and mobilizing volunteers Campaign & Volunteer Coordination Support civic, electoral, and issue advocacy campaigns within the region Coordinate volunteer shifts and event attendance for regular ongoing shifts and organizational days of action, including but not limited to National Voter Registration Day, Deadline Day, and Get Out the Vote Support Community Captains in organizing events and outreach efforts Build local relationships that strengthen campaign goals Metrics & Accountability Track and report weekly metrics including: Voters registered and base growth One on ones conducted Outreach activity through field, phone, and door conversations Volunteer recruitment New and active Community Captain commitments Event attendance Submit weekly reflections and share program insights Participate in bi-weekly cohort spaces with other organizers across the coalition Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.. Experience for at least one cycle in community, advocacy, or electoral campaigns Experience with mentorship and coaching of others Confident in ability to work towards measurable goals and tracking data Strong communication and collaboration skills Well organized and results-oriented Self-starter that can work independently and in a team environment Commitment to MOVE’s mission of engaging young people to build power in our democracy Physical & Mental Requirements Frequently walks, stands, and moves equipment weighing up to 20 pounds Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions Frequently moves throughout the community and inside and across buildings to access meetings or to conduct site visits for work in a single shift Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with coworkers and partners, ability to complete tasks in situations that have time constraints Position Details This is a supervisory, temporary, non-exempt, hourly position, compensated at $22.00 per hour for 20 to 25 hours a week with opportunities for overtime on an as-needed basis. Eligible for accrued time off. Grant Funded Position This position is funded by a grant and is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funds.
