    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Terms of Employment: 12-months</strong><br><strong>Exemption Status: Non-Exempt &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</strong><br><strong>AFSCME Scale: UA Grade 13-14</strong><br><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https://www.ccboe.com/careers/salary-scales\"><strong>https://www.ccboe.com/careers/salary-scales</strong></a><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong><u>Salary Range: $50,313 to 89,342 contingent upon years of experience</u></strong></p><p><strong>EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE</strong><br>Required:<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;High School Diploma or equivalent.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Current Apprentice Plumber License issued by the Baltimore Board of Commissioners of Practical Plumbing.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Four (4) years of progressive plumbing experience, including at least one (1) year as a Maintenance Plumber I or equivalent.</p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to read and interpret blueprints.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Knowledge of commercial building mechanical and plumbing systems.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Working knowledge of Charles County Plumbing Code and regulations.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Good physical condition.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Valid Maryland Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Willingness to undergo additional training as needed.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong interpersonal skills for working with staff and school faculty.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Willingness to work overtime during emergencies.</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</strong><br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Install, maintain, and repair plumbing and heating systems.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Clear wastewater/sewage lines regularly.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Service, maintain, and rebuild pump systems, lift stations, and fire sprinkler systems.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Train new employees in trade practices and procedures.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Installs water service piping and tap water/sewer mains.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Install and repair fixtures such as lavatories, drinking fountains, and sprinkling systems.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Cut, bend, and thread pipes; install hot and cold water, oil, steam, or gas pipes.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Repairs heating system pipes and valve traps.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Responds to emergency situations as required.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Operates commercial service vehicles (trucks and vans) and tow equipment trailers.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Communicates effectively with staff verbally and in writing.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Practices safe work habits for self and others.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Works from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts (ex. step, extension, man, scissor, aerial boom, bucket trucks).<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Uses smartphones, tablets, and laptops for work orders and timekeeping.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs other duties as assigned by the Foreman.</p><p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS &amp; PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p><p>The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. &nbsp;The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and operate machinery. &nbsp;The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. &nbsp;The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto ladders. &nbsp;The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds such as a toolbox. &nbsp;Occasionally, the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs., such as furniture or equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.
