&nbsp;High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or (4) year trade school education required.&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Minimum (8) years’ work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment required.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Holds EPA section 608 universal certification required.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;A Maryland Class C license is required.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Holds and maintains a valid Maryland State HVACR Journeyman license or Master's preferred.</p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;A thorough knowledge of the HVAC and refrigeration trades, equivalent to the completion of a four-year apprenticeship program.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Working knowledge of heating plants and other mechanical systems, including electrical components and controls.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to exercise good judgment in the performance of work and working safely.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of HVAC and refrigeration systems.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to drive commercial-type service vehicles, trucks, and Vans.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrated initiative and ingenuity in analyzing the situation and making frequent technical decisions based on specifications, engineering drawings, and building codes.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;A willingness to secure additional training as required to repair and maintain sophisticated HVAC equipment installations.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrated leadership capabilities.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Willingness to work overtime as required in case of emergency. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</strong><br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and installation for Commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs work required for Commercial and Residential HVAC equipment troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Reads and interprets blueprints.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Proficient knowledge of NFPA, as well as state and local codes related to commercial HVAC and refrigeration trade.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Works from step and extension ladders, scaffolds, man lifts, scissors lifts, aerial boom lifts, and bucket trucks.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs skilled work demanding a high degree of manual and technical skills.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Plans, organizes, lays out work, selects materials, makes accurate materials lists, and completes the installation in accordance with applicable mechanical and building codes and safety regulations.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Locates and determines refrigeration equipment malfunctions using various test equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Tests, adjusts, maintains, and repairs refrigeration equipment for efficiency and safety.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Inspects the work completed on equipment by other individuals.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Reviews engineering plans, specifications, installation and maintenance manuals, and any other data to develop the best method of problem solution.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Assigns, instructs, and inspects the work of helpers, trainees, and tradesmen in the proper practices and procedures of the trade.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Regularly works on 24-volt up to 480-volt systems and equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Installs and repairs electrical switches and relays.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Repairs and replaces motors and motor control equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Loads and tows equipment trailers.&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with CCBOE staff.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Practices safe work habits involving self and other employees.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Determines minimum stock levels of supplies necessary to maintain equipment which he repairs.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Assures that all work is completed in compliance with applicable safety standards.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Provides on-the-spot instruction to school personnel in the proper observation and preventive maintenance of the equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Reports to his supervisor about improper care and operation, which could cause malfunctions, and undue wear and tear on the facility's equipment.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Expends considerable physical effort at frequent intervals and enduring occasional exposure to undesirable elements such as rain, snow, extremes in temperature, mud, dust, etc.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities within his capability as assigned by the supervisor of maintenance, including those of lower-graded positions.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Assists in the correction of emergencies as they occur beyond normal working hours.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Uses smartphone, tablet, and laptop to access and enter information required for the maintenance work order system and time keeping.&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Performs other duties as assigned by the Foreman.</p><p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS &amp; PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong><br>The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and operate machinery. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, such as a toolbox. Occasionally, the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs., such as furniture or equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus. The employees will regularly work indoors and outdoors. The employees will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, cleaners, fertilizers, seed, and non-household dust.
