    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/22.36.21/styles/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\">&nbsp;<link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/22.36.21/styles/froala_style.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"><div class=\"fr-view\"><p id=\"isPasted\">Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the English instructor will teach a variety of English composition and literature classes and engage in a variety of learning support and instructional/institutional practices; mentor students by providing a positive and encouraging environment for learning; identify and implement assessment measures to achieve course, program, and college learning outcomes; work collaboratively within the Humanities Division; and serve on various college committees. The instructional load may consist of day/night classes; face-to-face, hybrid delivery, on and off campus classes. Some opportunities for online delivery and/or online course development.&nbsp;</p><p id=\"isPasted\"><em data-pasted=\"true\">Base salary and ranking are determined based on the matrix outlined in the current Faculty Negotiated Agreement considering credentials and experience.&nbsp;</em><em>This start for this position is Fall 2026.</em></p><p><strong>ONLY APPLICATIONS including CV/Resume, cover letter, courses taught, statement of teaching philosophy, and transcripts will be considered!</strong></p><p><em>Dodge City Community College is committed to a policy of non-discrimination in hiring and employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, military status, ancestry or national origin.</em></p><strong><u>Essential Functions/Responsibilities</u></strong><ul><li>To understand and commit to the Mission of the College &nbsp;~ &nbsp;To provide a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.&nbsp;</li><li>To foster a learning environment through the core values of students first, community, integrity, and innovation.&nbsp;</li><li>Faculty employment in accord with the current Negotiated Agreement.</li><li>Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods, and remain current on discipline-specific and pedagogical issues.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the college initiative to enhance the student learning experience by reviewing, evaluating, revising, developing, and implementing effective and relevant instructional technology in the classroom such as institutional LMS, e-texts/open educational resources, video platforms, and relevant platforms (such as e-syllabus manager, e-evaluations, proctoring and integrity).&nbsp;</li><li>Review, evaluate, revise, develop, and implement program curriculum within the department to assure compliance with professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and/or higher education regulatory agencies.</li><li>Prepare syllabi and learning materials for classroom within college discipline, divisional and institutional guidelines.</li><li>Teach an instructional load which may consist of day/night classes, various modalities and locations.&nbsp;</li><li>Facilitate learning activities in assigned courses such as, but not limited to: &nbsp; College Preparatory English Composition, English Composition 1, English Composition 2, Creative Writing.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.</li><li>Attend and participate in department and division meetings, institutional committees, and activities required to maintain program and/or college accreditation standards.</li><li>Assist in the articulation of courses with secondary and post-secondary institutions.</li><li>Ability to develop and implement new courses to curriculum in various delivery modalities when requested</li><li>Organize and maintain appropriate scholastic records for students and submit reports as required to the Records Office and appropriate administrative offices.</li><li>Participate in assessment of student learning.</li><li>Assist, as requested, with the development of the term class schedule and the college catalog.</li><li>Serve on college committees.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><em>&nbsp;</em></p><p><em>The above job description supersedes all previous descriptions. &nbsp;This description is intended to be a tool to describe the primary purpose of the job and the Essential Functions and Responsibilities. &nbsp;The job description may not be inclusive of all duties and job responsibilities. &nbsp; learning management systems (Canvas preferred), online syllabus creation software, online course evaluation systems, and industry specific software for student learning are examples.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to incorporate/utilize best teaching practices to drive student engagement and success in all learning environments.</li><li>Thorough knowledge of content area.</li><li>Fluency in English language.</li><li>Effective communication skills.</li><li>Ability to convey ideas to others in a clear, understandable manner.</li><li>Critical analytical and evaluative skills.</li><li>Organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to create and maintain a schedule.</li><li>Ability to think, write, and communicate effectively.</li><li>Ability to effectively maintain teaching schedules, organize time, and execute duties in the delivery and support of high-quality instruction.</li><li>Computer skills and ability to use technology in the classroom.</li><li>Demonstrated teaching experience with developmental/under-resourced students.</li><li>Demonstrated teaching experience with writing in digital environments.</li><li>Valid Kansas driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Preferred Qualifications</u></strong><ul><li>Experience teaching composition at the college level.</li><li>Qualifications to teach additional academic discipline(s).</li><li>Evidence of successful teaching developmental/remediated courses.</li><li>Commitment to student learning/success.</li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish).</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><strong><u>Physical Requirements:</u></strong>&nbsp;
