This includes assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with other on-site medical and mental health providers. Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is required. Current DEA licensure in NC is required.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Experience:</strong> Three years of post-graduate clinical experience with psychiatric patients preferred but not required.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;<strong>Knowledge:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge and thorough understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC&rsquo;s) in regard to the Federal 330 Public Health Service Act.</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of the 340B program.</li><li>Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (Epic)</li><li>Knowledge of computer systems and applications.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Skills:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion.</li><li>Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.</li><li>Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the medical and administrative staff, patients and the community.</li><li>Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work; delegating and achieving goals and objectives.</li><li>Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, interpreting, and implementing departmental policies and procedures.</li><li>Skill in identifying and resolving problems.</li><li>Skill in developing comprehensive reports.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Abilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to plan, organize, and integrate priorities and deadlines.</li><li>Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret complex data and, resolve operational problems.</li><li>Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement.</li><li>Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for continuous risk assessment. &nbsp;</li><li>Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations.</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.</li><li>Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate organizational software.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><h1>Essential Functions</h1><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Perform detailed psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments, psychiatric workups, and treatment planning, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation.</li><li>Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with treatment guidelines, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments as necessary.</li><li>Work closely with other medical and behavioral health providers within and outside the organization to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.</li><li>Provide education to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management, ensuring they understand the risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.</li><li>Offer consultation services to other healthcare providers, contributing to the development of treatment plans and providing expert advice on psychiatric care.</li><li>Order and interpret laboratory tests, explain results to patients, and take appropriate actions based on findings.</li><li>Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters, treatment plans, and follow-up care in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.</li><li>Adhere to all performance standards set by the organization and funding agencies, participating in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education activities.</li><li>As needed, may be asked to serve on committees focused on clinical practice improvement and performance assurance, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices.</li><li>Anticipate and respond calmly to emergency situations, providing appropriate interventions and support.</li><li>Engage in follow-up care with patients, ensuring continuity of care and addressing any ongoing or emerging mental health needs</li><li>Maintain compliance with workflows, policies, and procedures to support the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care and accreditation standards.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned, which may include participating in community service programs, health fairs, and educational presentations.</li><li>Attend medical staff meetings and participate in CME activities.</li><li>Collaborat<del cite=\"mailto:Chaquella%20Daughtry\" datetime=\"2024-12-03T22:18\">e</del> with the supervising physician, the nursing staff, technical personal, Behavioral Health providers and other Behavioral Health staff within RCCHC and external sources.&nbsp;</li><li>Provides psychiatric health services education, counseling and emotional support.</li><li>Refers patients as appropriate for inpatient care.</li><li>May also provide primary medical care services as indicated, in accordance with statues, regulations and protocols regulating the profession.</li></ul><p>Performs other duties as assigned.
