Temporary Lead Teacher - Early Headstart University Settlement partners with 40,000+ New Yorkers in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn every year to build on our collective strengths as we achieve healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For nearly 140 years, we’ve fought poverty and systemic inequality by building highly effective social services in collaboration with our neighbors. Established in 1886 as the first Settlement House in the United States, we bring the values of that movement into the 21st century by meeting New Yorkers where they live, listening deeply to all perspectives, and creating space for responsive cooperation. Joining with our neighbors to make stable foundations where people of all ages can grow and pursue their dreams, we build community strength. We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts. Responsibilities: Lead classroom sessions Provide educational support to classroom staff Develop lesson plans and implement an engaging, challenging and playful classroom curriculum Provide primary care to classroom children Administer developmental assessment on children Develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with families and children Develop goals for children in the classroom based on developmental assessment Maintain written observations of the children's experience in the classroom Assist in identifying children with special needs and facilitate referrals Maintain appropriate materials in the classroom Provide guidance and training to program staff and help mentor the assistant teachers. Develop knowledge of services available to families in the community Maintain proper documentation on classroom and program activities Conduct home visits to each child's home at least twice per program year Track attendance and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) records Conduct parent meetings and parent teacher conferences Attend professional development conferences and training as required Assist with classroom set up and clean up on a daily basis Other duties as requested by supervisor to fulfill job responsibilities Qualifications: NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education required Bachelors degree required Bi-lingual skills in English/Chinese or English/Spanish strongly preferred Two to three years experience working with toddlers and preschoolers in a classroom setting Must have at least one to two years of experience supervising classroom staff Must have good organization, communication and writing skills Work Schedule: Temporary 3 month contract, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, 35 hours per week We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community. We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\\r\\n\\r\\n&nbsp;\\r\\n\\r\\nResponsibilities:\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tLead classroom sessions\\r\\n\\tProvide educational support to classroom staff\\r\\n\\tDevelop lesson plans and implement an engaging, challenging and playful classroom curriculum \\r\\n\\tProvide primary care to classroom children\\r\\n\\tAdminister developmental assessment on children\\r\\n\\tDevelop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with families and children\\r\\n\\tDevelop goals for children in the classroom based on developmental assessment \\r\\n\\tMaintain written observations of the children&#39;s experience in the classroom\\r\\n\\tAssist in identifying children with special needs and facilitate referrals\\r\\n\\tMaintain appropriate materials in the classroom\\r\\n\\tProvide guidance and training to program staff and help mentor the assistant teachers.\\r\\n\\tDevelop knowledge of services available to families in the community\\r\\n\\tMaintain proper documentation on classroom and program activities\\r\\n\\tConduct home visits to each child&#39;s home at least twice per program year\\r\\n\\tTrack attendance and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) records \\r\\n\\tConduct parent meetings and parent teacher conferences \\r\\n\\tAttend professional development conferences and training as required\\r\\n\\tAssist with classroom set up and clean up on a daily basis \\r\\n\\tOther duties as requested by supervisor to fulfill job responsibilities\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n&nbsp;\\r\\n\\r\\nQualifications: \\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n\\tNYS Certification in Early Childhood Education required \\r\\n\\tBachelors degree required \\r\\n\\tBi-lingual skills in English/Chinese or English/Spanish strongly preferred\\r\\n\\tTwo to three years experience working with toddlers and preschoolers in a classroom setting \\r\\n\\tMust have at least one to two years of experience supervising classroom staff \\r\\n\\tMust have good organization, communication and writing skills\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\n&nbsp;\\r\\n\\r\\nWork Schedule: Temporary 3 month contract, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, 35 hours per week\\r\\n\\r\\n&nbsp;\\r\\n\\r\\nWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.
