Overview The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Maintenance Manager . Oversees the maintenance of key assets including lift stations in accordance with the SWS maintenance guidelines and scheduling requirements. Provides leadership and guidance in collections and distribution maintenance management. Works with VP of Operations to ensure continuity of processes, goals and vision of SWS. This position will travel between service areas near Longwood, FL . Requires the ability to respond 24 hours a day to various situations. What You'll Do Develops strategic plans for the scheduling and execution of the maintenance requirements in accordance with SWS maintenance guidelines. Oversees maintenance activities associated with utility assets such as valves, hydrants, lift stations and dead-end distribution mains. Hires, directs, evaluates, promotes and disciplines subordinate employees engaged in the maintenance requirements of assets such as valves, hydrants, lift stations and dead-end distribution mains. Hires, directs, evaluates, promotes and disciplines subordinate employees engaged in the maintenance requirements of valves, hydrants, lift stations and dead-end distribution mains. Manages the maintenance of key assets within the region. Issues work orders to subordinates and maintains data input of maintenance activities associated with work orders. Oversees the collecting of geospatial locates of utility assets to further enhance our GIS/CMMS systems. Stays abreast of Federal, state and local regulations and environmental guidelines regarding water/wastewater facilities. Oversee the training of personnel in the areas of maintenance procedures, geospatial locates, as well as compliance with Company policies and procedures. Trains employees on safety policies and procedures. Drives Company goals and metrics by effectively challenging and motivating employees. Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time. Meets Company goals and objectives in conformance with budgetary guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned. What You'll Bring Experience Requires a minimum of 6 years progressive experience working in utility management or the utility industry. Requires knowledge and experience in the operations, maintenance and processes of collections and distribution systems; knowledge of the controls, instrumentation and mechanical equipment in the utility industry; knowledge of standard practices, terminology and safety standards in the utility industry; thorough knowledge of local, state and Federal water/wastewater collection and distribution system regulations. Education, Certification and Licenses HS Diploma or GED Must hold the minimum Florida licensing in order to be designated as distribution system operator in charge, or ability to attain such licensing within one year of employment Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Nice to Have Completion of multiple utility industry related courses, seminars, management and supervisory training is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with MS Word and Excel Ability to supervise skilled and unskilled employees effectively, including ability to mentor, evaluate and guide staff in the development of skills and ability, improve morale and maximize efficiency. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, regulatory agencies and their personnel. Ability to coach employees objectively through complex, difficult and emotional issues. Ability to implement recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law. Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to maximize use of employees’ skills. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare and submit accurate reports. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to provide for safe working conditions for fellow workers. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public. Ability to understand and implement a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Demonstrates proven ability to motivate others in the pursuit of Company goals. Cell phone, laptop, tablet, Trimble unit, water distribution equipment and machinery including pumps, valve exerciser, pipe locator and other maintenance equipment; operate a Company-issued motor vehicle. Work Environment Moderate to heavy physical demands, including lifting (75 lbs.), walking (10+ miles daily), climbing and mechanical repair.
