Assistant Professor (tenure-track) faculty position Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, WV The West Virginia University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences seeks to fill one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on fundamental mechanisms underlying human ocular disease are particularly sought. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is expanding its faculty with a position at the Assistant Professor rank (tenure-track) in the area of vision research. Investigators with innovative research programs that demonstrate strong translational potential to advance the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of blinding diseases, including, but not limited to, retinal diseases, glaucoma, and corneal disorders, will be given the highest priority. Startup packages are highly competitive, and salaries include a significant state-funded component. Further, successful candidates may be eligible to participate in an NIH-funded, mentored career development program at WVU and may apply for funding from the Visual Sciences Center of Biomedical Research Excellence ( https://medicine.wvu.edu/biochemistry/visual-sciences-center-of­ biomedical-research-excellence/ ). The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is part of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, which incorporates the WVU Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Public Health. Research at the Health Sciences Center is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities at HSC and throughout the WVU campus.
