Description
Job Description
The Storeroom Attendant (Machine & Fabrication Shop) is responsible for supporting production operations through the accurate receipt, organization, tracking, and distribution of materials, tooling, consumables, and inventory within the machine and fabrication shop environments. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient workflow by ensuring materials and supplies are available, organized, and properly managed to support daily operations.
The Storeroom Attendant will work closely with machining, fabrication, purchasing, and production teams to maintain inventory accuracy, support material flow throughout the facility, and help maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Material Receiving & Inspection: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments including raw materials, hardware, tooling, fabrication supplies, and consumables. Confirm materials match purchase orders, packing slips, and quality expectations before inventory is stocked or released to production.
• Inventory Management & Organization: Store and organize materials, tooling, and shop supplies in designated inventory locations including racks, bins, bar stock storage, and tool crib areas. Maintain organized and clearly labeled inventory to support efficient retrieval and production flow.
• Material Distribution & Production Support: Issue materials, tooling, PPE, and shop supplies to machinists, welders, fabricators, and production personnel to support ongoing manufacturing activities. Coordinate and track in-process materials and job-related inventory throughout production.
• Inventory Tracking & ERP Updates: Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP and inventory management systems. Track inventory movements, material usage, tooling consumption, and stock levels to support operational accuracy and purchasing activities.
• Consumables & Tooling Control: Monitor and manage consumables including cutting tools, inserts, welding wire, gases, abrasives, fasteners, PPE, and general shop supplies. Support tooling organization, tool crib inventory management, and tracking of tooling usage and replacement needs.
• Cycle Counts & Inventory Audits: Perform routine cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory counts to maintain inventory accuracy. Investigate discrepancies and support corrective actions as required.
• Material Handling & Storage: Safely move, store, and stage materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or other material handling equipment where certified and authorized. Ensure proper storage conditions are maintained to prevent rust, contamination, damage, or material mix-ups.
• Fabrication & Shop Support: Support fabrication and machining operations by tracking cut materials, remnants, and job-specific inventory. Coordinate scrap metal handling, recycling activities, and general material flow throughout the facility.
• Housekeeping & Safety Compliance: Maintain clean, organized, and safe storeroom, tool crib, and material storage areas while following company safety procedures and shop standards.
