Description
About the Role:
Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for a Middle School Leadership Lab Teacher to teach at our Investigative Learning Camp, an academic and experiential summer camp designed for students entering Grades 5-8.
“Leadership Lab: Tutoring, Babysitting, and Beyond,” is a two-week course open only to students in Gr.7-8. In this course, campers learn the skills necessary to become excellent tutors, babysitters, camp counselors, or coaches. Skills honed will include leadership, teamwork, and business planning. In the first week, campers will explore how young children play, learn, and communicate. Campers will reflect on their own talents and interests to create and deliver their own mini-lesson for younger children. In the second week of the program, campers will put on their entrepreneurial hats, developing their own teaching, tutoring, babysitting, or coaching service with a simple business plan. The second week also includes a Red Cross First Aid/CPR course taught by a certified instructor.
The Investigative Learning Camp (ILC) offers students the opportunity to take classes covering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-based topics. All courses encourage creative play and hands-on learning; courses are project-based and do not assume students have any previous knowledge of the subject matter. No homework is assigned.
