Dexterra Inc., Integrated Facilities Management division, has an opening for a dynamic Energy Manager responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining comprehensive Energy Management Systems that reduce energy and water consumption, improve efficiency and support long‑term organizational sustainability and decarbonization. Our unique focus is to deliver data-driven solutions aimed at decarbonization through efficiency in all forms. For this role there will be a focus on one of our large Public Private Partnership contracts. Energy efficiency activities are ongoing at this site and the Energy Manager will support current energy programs as well as develop new projects to achieve energy consumption reduction goals and objectives. There is also the opportunity to join a team building a future in energy efficiency services for our company across our existing contracts and in new opportunities. Key Responsibilities Engage with our existing energy team, including P.Eng, CEM and EIT support Manage and lead within the energy team to engage all key stakeholders for meaningful energy program support and extend the reach of our energy services to increase awareness across the business Gain a working understanding of facility operations and maintenance for our existing contracts with access to all relevant design, operation and maintenance documentation Review contractual documentation for our existing project agreements to gain a working understanding of deliverables and requirements for Energy Matters support within a PPP framework Review existing energy studies, audits and reports to support continuous improvement and a progressive decarbonization program Support the development and maintenance of an overall Energy Management Plans (including annual targets) and Framework aligned with ISO 50001 requirements Complete walkthrough audits as required to identify new potential energy efficiency opportunities and support the delivery of ASHRAE Level 2 and 3 audits to progress energy efficiency measures development Review lifecycle plans, incentive opportunities and other funding options to make recommendations on capital and operational efficiency projects to prepare business cases and incentive applications. Identify, assess and prioritize projects Support implementation of approved projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, design management, installation, commissioning, monitoring and verification. Coordinate with project and design management teams Contribute to monitoring and verification strategy development in line with IPMVP to maintain a baseline model and post-implementation data. Ensure contracts are aligned for annual consumption and demand reduction targets Support regular energy monitoring and trending analysis to capture energy and water trends in the available monitoring networks. Raise outlier data identified through analysis and support site teams through root cause analysis and resolution Utilize monitored 15-min energy and water data to populate Power BI dashboards and produce reports for regular monitoring, visualization and reporting of consumption and demand data as well as support the implementation and monitoring of Energy Efficiency Measures. Includes development and maintenance of KPI’s Support the development of annual reporting for individual sites to demonstrate and substantiate progress on energy targets, goals and objectives for a range of energy sources Assess Fault Detection and Diagnostic (FDD) solutions in support of predictive maintenance for implementation, including hardware and software platforms that integrate with the broader resource management solutions in use. Review overall monitoring network hardware and software solutions to contribute to the assessment of potential new solutions for integration overall, including coordination with our Sustainability team and GHG emission monitoring and calculations Engage with site teams and subcontractors to troubleshoot metering issues and support routine sensor calibration to ensure overall data quality Participate in a Strategic Energy Management incentive program through attendance of support and training events provided externally. Ensure our business is meeting milestones of this program aimed at extending capacity in energy management Support the development of Education and Awareness programming. Implement training and communication programs to promote energy and water conservation Support reporting and case studies on project successes as reference material for implementation within existing contracts and at future sites Support the development and scaling of new energy services, including within existing contracts and also new opportunities; support business development by proposing solutions for upcoming pursuits that leverage our track record while expanding into new delivery models WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management Good working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, controls, building envelope, lighting, motors and drives, hot water systems, steam systems and renewables Ability to perform energy use analysis and commercial analysis for proposed energy efficiency measures as well as support project performance assessments as per IPMVP Monitoring and Verification protocols Experience in producing and maintaining consumption and demand statistical modeling such as linear regression to establish baseline models for weather-normalization and assess actual performance. Experience using Retscreen is desirable Experience in delivering energy audits, preferably ASHRAE Level 1,2 and 3 across a range of building types is beneficial Capability in energy model development, parametric runs and results verification in the IES environment or Energy Plus would be beneficial Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential or ability to obtain this credential through the Association of Energy Engineers within the first year.
