Contract Type: Self-Employed / Contractor
Hours: Minimum of two days a week
Pay: In line with NHS Agenda for Change Banding (depending on experience)
Company Overview
Timeout provides specialist support for children and young people experiencing social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. We work closely with families, schools, and local authorities to create safe, nurturing environments where young people can grow in confidence, independence, and resilience. Our multidisciplinary approach combines education, therapy, and care to promote holistic development and positive outcomes.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our therapeutic team on a contract or permanent basis. This role is ideal for a practitioner experienced in working with children and young people with complex needs, who is confident in assessing and supporting functional, sensory, and adaptive skills. It is ESSENTIAL FOR THE APPLICANT TO BE TRAINED IN SENSORY INTEGRATION AT POSTGRADUATE LEVEL.
You will contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, provide targeted interventions, and offer expert guidance to staff and families to help young people reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including sensory processing, functional skills, and adaptive behaviour assessments (e.g., ABAS, Vineland) within the scope of OT practice.
Develop and implement individualised therapy plans and evidence-based interventions.
Collaborate with education, care, and therapy staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Provide clear, detailed reports and professional recommendations for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and reviews.
Deliver training and consultation to staff and parents on sensory regulation, adaptive functioning, and strategies to support independence.
Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
About You
Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
Experience working with children and young people, ideally within education, residential, or therapeutic settings.
Proficient in conducting adaptive behaviour assessments (e.g., ABAS, Vineland) and interpreting results to inform functional support plans.
Knowledge of sensory integration and trauma-informed approaches.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and report-writing skills.
Able to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
What We Offer
Pay aligned with NHS Agenda for Change Banding, commensurate with experience.
Supportive, multidisciplinary working environment.
Opportunities for professional growth and clinical supervision.
Flexible working arrangements and autonomy within a structured framework.
If you wish to discuss this role further please contact Dr Nadia Khurram or email at [email protected].
