You will oversee the complete lifecycle of molded components from polymer selection to production rollout at manufacturing site, while managing cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><b>Product Design:</b> Lead the design and development of hard good consumer products tailored for the mass market.</li><li><b>Tool Engineering:</b> Review, design, and optimize 3D mold layouts for multi-cavity injection tooling.</li><li><b>Material Selection:</b> Select engineering polymers and elastomers optimized for mechanical wear and flexibility.</li><li><b>Lab Validation:</b> Conduct laboratory evaluations, generate performance reports, and build complete technical data packages including standard operating procedures (SOPs).</li><li><b>DFM Engineering:</b> Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to reduce cycle times and eliminate structural defects.</li><li><b>IP Management:</b> Experience navigating patent landscapes and drafting technical documentation for freedom-to-operate evaluations</li><li><b>Supplier Coordination:</b> Manage tooling vendors directly to ensure tool construction matches technical specifications.</li><li><b>Quality &amp; Support:</b> Handle customer complaints by conducting root-cause analysis on failed plastics and implementing design fixes.</li><li><b>Cross-Functional Liaison:</b> Coordinate seamlessly with internal teams (R&amp;D, Sourcing, Quality, Life Cycle Management, Vendor Development) and external suppliers.</li><li><b>Commercial Enablement:</b> Create technical sales pitch documents, conduct product training, and develop physical demo tools for field teams.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Required Experience &amp; Skills</b></p><ul><li><b>Experience Duration:</b> 3 to 8 years of industrial experience in tooling, polymer technology, and product engineering.</li><li><b>Industry Focus:</b> Proven experience engineering consumer goods, with specific preference for mechanical cleaning tools.</li><li><b>Molding Expertise:</b> Mastery of injection molding, overmolding, DFM reviews, and Moldflow simulation analysis.</li><li><b>CAD Software:</b> Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX for surface modeling and mold assembly.</li><li><b>Polymer Science:</b> Practical knowledge of commodity and engineering plastics (e.g., PP, ABS, POM, TPE, Nylon).</li></ul><p><b>Soft Skills &amp; Competencies</b></p><ul><li><b>Communication: </b>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong clarity of thought.</li><li><b>Linguistic Skills:</b> Full professional fluency in English and Hindi, along with proficiency in the local regional language</li><li><b>Core Aptitude:</b> Deep subject matter knowledge combined with sharp analytical and logical reasoning abilities.</li><li><b>Professional Mindset:</b> A structured, scientific work approach driven by data and methodical execution.</li><li><b>Team Dynamics:</b> A collaborative team player possessing a highly proactive, &#34;can-do&#34; attitude.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications &amp; Logistics</b></p><ul><li><b>Education:</b> Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Technology (e.g., CIPET), or equivalent.</li><li><b>Work Setup:</b> Full-time, On-Site role based at our facility in Bengaluru.</li><li><b>Travel:</b> Flexibility to travel to vendor sites for mold trials, tool debugging, and supplier audits.</li></ul><p></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p>Learn more about 3M’s creative solutions to the world’s problems at www.3M.com or on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn @3M.<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p>Safety is a core value at 3M.
