Description
Position Objective: The Aluminum Extrusion Press Die Corrector is responsible for maintaining and correcting extrusion dies used in manufacturing processes. This expert-level position demands precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of aluminum extrusion techniques. The role involves diagnosing die issues, implementing corrective measures, and ensuring the highest quality standards to optimize production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and correct extrusion die issues to ensure optimal performance and product quality. Conduct inspections on new and used dies to assess wear and implement necessary corrections. Make precise adjustments and corrections to extrusion dies to meet quality specifications and enhance product shapes and tolerances. Repair, modify, and refurbish dies using appropriate tools and techniques, including polishing, honing, grinding, machining, and welding as needed. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify root causes of die-related defects and develop solutions. Use precision tools and equipment to make adjustments and modifications to dies. Maintain detailed records of die corrections, adjustments, and preventative maintenance activities. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing. Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to die design and correction processes. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and die callouts for accurate corrections and modifications. Document work performed, adjustments made, and maintenance records following company procedures. Assist in developing preventive maintenance programs to extend die life and ensure reliable production. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and standards. Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Stay updated on the latest advancements in extrusion technology and best practices for die maintenance. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are well-maintained. Tools, Machines, or Equipment Required to Use:
Precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Die-correction tools and equipment. Basic computer systems for record-keeping and analysis. Forklifts (if certified). Physical Activity of this Position:
Lifting and moving dies and tools weighing up to 50 pounds. Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods during shifts. Performing tasks requiring precision dexterity. Working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
