Location and Onsite Notice: This role requires regularly working on-site in Durham, North Carolina. If you are not currently within commuting distance, you must be willing to relocate (note that Onebrief will provide relocation assistance). We’re looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, and technically minded Game and Hardware Tester to help us build AtomEngine, a next-generation, cloud-first game engine. AtomEngine delivers turnkey solutions for simulating millions of entities within a persistent, planet-scale sandbox environment. In this role, you will focus on testing AtomEngine’s core functionality while supporting the development team as they continuously improve and expand the simulation platform. Join our small, expert team of technologists, game developers, and innovators as we shape the future. What You’ll Do Learn and master AtomEngine to create and execute war-game scenarios in both single-player and multiplayer environments. Identify bugs, provide actionable feedback, and recommend improvements to AtomEngine and Battle Road’s internal processes. Perform a variety of testing tasks in a timely, efficient, and thorough manner. Execute load testing, stability testing, functionality testing, and other testing activities as needed. Communicate effectively with team members to quickly learn new systems, remove blockers, and provide actionable test results in real time. Adapt quickly to fast-moving workflows, shifting priorities, and evolving deliverables. Own and deliver testing tasks on a daily basis with minimal oversight. Apply prior testing experience to mentor and support other members of the test team. Partner with test leadership to create and maintain clear, detailed test plans and testing procedures. What We Look For Familiarity with PC gaming hardware. Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self-direction. Extensive experience in video game quality assurance, with a strong understanding of QA principles, methodologies, and processes. Proven proficiency with industry-standard testing tools and software, including version control systems, bug tracking systems, and test management tools. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize testing activities based on project requirements and objectives. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work autonomously while providing regular progress updates and test results to test leadership. Willingness and ability to obtain a Security Clearance. Due to federal contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required for this position. Hybrid — Durham, North Carolina (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
