Description

About Zūm: Zūm is revolutionizing mass mobility with its Connected Mobility Experience (Zūm CMX™) system that connects and coordinates people, vehicles, and operations in real time. In the $50 billion student mobility market – the largest segment of the mass mobility industry – Zūm CMX  is transforming a daily source of anxiety and disruption into a reliable, transparent, and efficient mobility experience for students and families. Today, more than 4,500 schools rely on Zūm CMX. Recognized globally for its innovative approach and operational execution, Zūm has been named to Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies, CNBC Disruptor 50 and Changemakers, the World Economic Forum, and the Financial Times’ Fastest Growing Companies lists. Zūm is backed by leading investors including Sequoia Capital, GIC, TPG, and Softbank. About the Role We're seeking a professional to provide on-the-ground safety oversight and operational support for our transportation team. This role is the eyes and ears in the field, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all district transportation routes through direct observation, driver coaching, and real-time incident response. You'll spend your days riding routes, conducting safety audits, supporting drivers, and responding to emergencies—all while maintaining the highest safety standards and building a culture of excellence. You'll be the trusted leader drivers turn to for guidance and the safety champion who ensures every student arrives safely, every time. What Makes You Successful in This Role You're a safety-minded leader who loves being out in the field rather than behind a desk. You're naturally observant, catching safety issues before they become problems, and you know how to coach drivers in a way that's direct but respectful. You stay calm under pressure—whether you're responding to an accident scene, helping a new driver navigate a tricky route, or addressing a parent’s concern. You genuinely care about driver success and student safety, and you're not afraid to have tough conversations when needed. You're comfortable juggling route observations, incident investigations, documentation, and training support—all in the same day. You bring a steady, approachable presence that earns respect from drivers and builds confidence with schools and families. The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions. If you are a full-time salaried or hourly worker, we offer the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Holidays, Wellness, Vacation, and more. The targeted pay range for this role in $30.00-33.00/hr. Zūm Services, Inc. and all its subsidiaries provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Responsibilities: Proactively recruit candidates to apply and train them to become successful school bus drivers. Act as a liaison between schools, drivers, and the district. Review video footage upon request and follow up on driver complaints. Remain part of the driver pool and drive routes as needed. Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training to ensure successful completion of training and testing; recommend upgrades as necessary. Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations for all driver employees. Administer and maintain company mandated random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing program in conjunction with the corporate office. Develop and conduct regularly scheduled driver safety meetings. Assume primary responsibility in responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents by on-scene investigation and preparing and submitting reports to the corporate office in accordance with company policy. Investigate customer service complaints relative to safety issues and take appropriate corrective action. Handle all incident and conduct reports, escalating issues to the district when necessary. Requirements: Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Commercial driving experience required. At least two years of experience driving a school bus. Previous training experience. Thorough knowledge of company and state laws and regulations relating to student transportation. Appropriate vehicle class license, current medical and school bus driver’s certificate. Ability to interface and communicate with all types of individuals. Must be knowledgeable of adult training techniques. Computer literacy, preferably in word processing and spreadsheets, and basic math skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication skills.
