insurance.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><em>Essential Functions</em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li> Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.</li>\n <li> Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.</li>\n <li> Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.</li>\n <li> Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.</li>\n <li> Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.</li>\n <li> Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.</li>\n <li> Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.</li>\n <li> Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.</li>\n <li> Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.</li>\n <li> Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.</li>\n <li> Assists the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provide scheduling information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation.</li>\n <li> Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment.</li>\n <li> Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under the direction of a provider.</li>\n <li> Adheres to and assures compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards.</li>\n <li> Consistently demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adheres to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies.</li>\n <li> Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.</li>\n <li> Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>Other Related Functions</em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li> Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assesses data appropriate to the age-specific needs of patients in their assigned department and/or unit.</li>\n <li> Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.</li>\n <li> Practices efficient use of supplies.</li>\n <li> Assists the business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><em><u>Education/Training</u></em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li> High school graduate or equivalent.</li>\n <li> Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting) required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em><u>Licensure/Certification</u></em></strong></p>\n<p>Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification -and- If hired after January 1, 2015, maintains current certification by one of the following agencies within 6 months of hire-</p>\n<ul>\n <li> Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health career Association (NHA) (www.nhanow.com)</li>\n <li> Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (www.aama-ntl.org)</li>\n <li> Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)(www.amcaexams.com)</li>\n <li> National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (www.ncctinc.com)</li>\n <li> Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (www.nahpusa.com)</li>\n <li> Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) (www.amt1.com)</li>\n <li> Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by
