This role focuses on minimizing risk, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><h4>Regulatory Compliance</h4><ul><li><p>Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.</p></li><li><p>Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports, including SARA, RCRA, stormwater, emissions, and permit renewal applications.</p></li><li><p>Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies as needed.</p></li><li><p>Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to facility leadership.</p></li><li><p>Support timely internal and external reporting of EHS-related matters.</p></li></ul><h4>Safety Program Management</h4><ul><li><p>Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and standards.</p></li><li><p>Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for manufacturing processes.</p></li><li><p>Coach and support operational leaders on EHS initiatives and compliance requirements.</p></li><li><p>Lead continuous improvement efforts and company-wide safety initiatives.</p></li><li><p>Identify and implement industry best practices to strengthen facility performance.</p></li></ul><h4>Incident Management</h4><ul><li><p>Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses.</p></li><li><p>Maintain incident records and coordinate regulatory reporting when required.</p></li><li><p>Provide guidance and support during emergency situations.</p></li></ul><h4>Training & Employee Engagement</h4><ul><li><p>Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), emergency response, and safety awareness training.</p></li><li><p>Promote employee engagement and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.</p></li></ul><h4>Audits & Inspections</h4><ul><li><p>Conduct routine facility audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.</p></li><li><p>Track corrective and preventive actions through completion.</p></li><li><p>Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.</p></li><li><p>Analyze EHS metrics and implement action plans to address trends and opportunities.</p></li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.</p></li><li><p>Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, and/or CHP are preferred.</p></li><li><p>7–10+ years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety leadership experience.</p></li><li><p>Experience within chemical manufacturing or a related industrial environment preferred.</p></li><li><p>Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations.</p></li><li><p>Experience with hazardous materials management, air permitting, and environmental reporting.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated ability to influence organizational culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.</p></li><li><p>Strong communication, leadership, and facilitation skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.</p></li><li><p>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.</p></li><li><p>Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours when necessary.</p></li></ul><h3>Key Attributes</h3><p>The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills.
