Position Summary
Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a skilled Mammography / DEXA Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team.
This position performs screening and diagnostic mammography and bone densitometry (DEXA) examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing disease and monitoring bone health. The technologist is responsible for ensuring high-quality imaging, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting patient safety and comfort, and collaborating with radiologists and healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care.
The ideal candidate is a compassionate imaging professional who can perform specialized imaging procedures while maintaining strong patient communication and technical accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
Mammography Imaging
Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms according to established protocols
Position patients correctly to ensure high-quality diagnostic images
Assist radiologists with procedures including biopsies and wire localizations
Maintain compliance with MQSA and ACR mammography standards
Manage documentation and regulatory requirements related to mammography accreditation and inspections
Bone Densitometry (DEXA) Imaging
Perform bone densitometry scans following physician orders
Position patients properly and identify regions of interest for accurate measurements
Analyze scan data and ensure proper documentation for radiologist interpretation
Monitor and maintain DEXA equipment and quality control procedures
Patient Care
Prepare patients for procedures and explain exams to reduce anxiety
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper identification prior to imaging
Monitor patients during imaging procedures and respond to any concerns
Transport patients when necessary and assist with mobility needs
Quality & Compliance
Perform quality control procedures on imaging equipment
Maintain compliance with imaging standards and regulatory requirements
Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record
Maintain imaging equipment and supply inventory
Team Collaboration
Communicate effectively with radiologists, providers, and clinical staff
Assist with interdisciplinary patient care coordination
Participate in training and mentoring imaging staff when needed

Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Graduate of an approved ARRT Radiologic Technology program
Experience
Mammography experience preferred
DEXA or bone densitometry experience preferred
Licensure & Certifications
ARRT certification in Radiography required
ARRT Mammography certification required or ability to obtain
Current AHA BLS certification for healthcare providers
Skills
Strong mammography imaging and patient positioning skills
Knowledge of MQSA compliance and mammography quality standards
Ability to perform bone densitometry scans accurately
Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with electronic health record systems and imaging software
Work Environment
Hospital diagnostic imaging department
Exposure to radiation, blood, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials
Frequent patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients
Compensation & Benefits
Base Compensation Range: $33.25 - $51.40 hourly, based on years of relevant experience ranging from 0 to 22 years of experience. "Relevant experience" means relevant to the employee's responsibilities set forth in the job description as determined by the HR Manager, CAO, applicable department manager/director and applicable senior leader.
Benefits: Full-time benefits include generous paid time off, separate sick leave, health, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability and option for short-term disability, and retirement plan with employer contribution.
Starting Work Bonus: This position is eligible for a starting work bonus of up to $5,000. Eligibility, amount, and payment terms are subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s compensation policies and may vary based on position, experience, and employment status. Bonus payments, if applicable, are typically issued after the employee has met required employment and service criteria.
Moving Expense Reimbursement: This position is eligible for a moving expense reimbursement of up to $3,000. Reimbursement is subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s relocation policy and requires prior approval. Eligible expenses and reimbursement amounts may vary based on position and individual circumstances. Reimbursement is processed in accordance with established policy and applicable tax regulations.
