Join HLZAE, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Milrose Consultants, LLC, as a Field Project Associate / Architect and contribute to the preservation and revitalization of the city's architectural heritage. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious architect to gain hands-on experience, develop their technical design skills, and take increasing ownership of projects within a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
This hybrid role offers a mix of in-office, on-site, and remote work providing dynamic and flexible work experience.
What You’ll Do
Support project managers on medium-to-large-scale architectural projects; Lead smaller assignments with growing independence Conduct building inspections on-site—including from scaffolding and lifts—documenting findings and supporting project analysis across façade restoration, preservation, rehabilitation, and alteration projects. Actively participate in all phases of projects including investigation, estimating, design documentation, municipal filing, bidding, and construction administration. Produce detailed architectural drawings in AutoCAD; efficiently create and revise project documents such as field reports, estimates, and meeting minutes. Foster strong professional relationships through regular and clear communication with clients, contractors, and consultants; attend meetings and maintain strong professional relationships. Monitor construction activity to ensure adherence to plans and specifications; proactively identifying and escalating any discrepancies or issues to Project Manager as needed. Maintain a current understanding of New York City building codes and zoning regulations, and provide support in navigating public review processes and agency filings Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently, managing tasks and deadlines autonomously, and collaboratively within a team, contributing positively to a fast-paced project environment.
Field Work Expectation
This role involves fieldwork between 40%-75% of your weekly schedule, depending on project phase and workload. This hands-on aspect is crucial for conducting thorough building inspections and gathering essential data for our projects.
What You’ll Bring
Required :
Minimum of 2 years of field experience in the construction industry (comfortable working at heights), restoration experience is a plus. BA in Architecture or equivalent relevant experience Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, proficient in producing construction documents Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively; experience managing 4-7 projects simultaneously is a plus. Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills with a proactive approach to task management. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with diverse stakeholders. Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute positively to a supportive work environment.
Required Certifications
4HR User Supported Scaffolding Certification 16HR User Suspended Scaffolding Certification Note: certification courses will be provided by HLZAE
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid schedule. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Travel requirements: Fieldwork expected 40%–75% of the time.
Compensation & Benefits
