Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Carbon Handling Technician to join the Phoenix Process team.
The Carbon Handling Technician is responsible for the movement of loaded carbon into the carbon handling circuit, recovery of gold from the carbon to a pregnant solution, regeneration of the carbon, and returning barren carbon back to processing facilities. They will ensure safe and efficient operation of various processing circuits/equipment including but not limited to: boilers, water treatment systems, off gas/gas handling, reagent handling and addition, electrowinning, retort/induction furnaces, solution balance, sample collection, data recording, retrieval of sample data, proper handling of potentially hazardous chemicals, monitoring/controlling water flows, pumps, valves, piping and other equipment, making calculations and adjustments as needed to maintain operating parameters within limits.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Metallurgical Planning Superintendent, the Carbon Handling Technician is responsible for the following:
Identify preventative maintenance needs to prevent loss to personnel, property, and process by observing machinery and equipment. Report any mechanical, electrical or instrumentation repairs as needed. Communicate daily with mill operators in movement of regenerated and loaded carbon. Operate carbon pumps and dewatering screens to move loaded, stripped, and regenerated carbon while monitoring and maintaining water levels of the push water tank. Operate acid wash and elution circuit – reagent addition, pumps, valves, heat exchangers – while monitoring vessel parameters for elution performance. Operate kiln for carbon regeneration while monitoring temperatures and bin levels. Operate an atomic absorption analyzer to get profiles of pregnant and barren solutions for gold and silver. Operate a forklift to unload new carbon, move totes, and assist with loading of fine carbon bags. Mixing of new carbon for fines removal prior to sending to processing facilities. Check paperwork of driver prior to unloading caustic and serve as safety watch. Collect samples for metallurgical accounting and process control. Operate a computer and related software for record keeping and circuit control. Maintain housekeeping and circuit cleanliness to ensure safe operation Comply with state and federal safety and health regulations, company policies and procedures and the company's environmental compliance policy. The ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications:
5+ years of process operations experience Familiarity with PI, Wonderware, and DeltaV CDL, or willingness to get CDL HAZMAT, or willingness to do HAZMAT training Ability to work independently and as part of a team
