Description

About Us Canary Technologies is changing the game for hotels with modern software powered by Canary's hospitality-specific AI platform. Canary is utilized by 20,000+ hoteliers in 100+ countries to equip hoteliers with the technology they need to work smarter and wow their guests. Major hotel brands such as Wyndham, Marriott, IHG, Four Seasons, Rosewood, and Best Western trust Canary to deliver results. Canary was named a 2024 Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ company, a Most Innovative Company by Fast Company and a HotelTechReport Best Place to Work — and is backed by top Silicon Valley investors like Y Combinator, F-Prime, Brighton Park Capital and Insight Partners. Join us in shaping the future of hospitality! About the Role As the Director of Product for Payments, you will own the product vision and execution for Canary's payments platform. You'll operate at the intersection of fintech and hospitality, partnering with payment processors, managing PCI compliance, and delivering secure, frictionless payment experiences across mobile check-in, kiosks, sales and catering workflows, and international markets. If you thrive in a high-stakes environment and love direct P&L ownership of a critical area, this role is for you. We also work hard to ensure Canary is a fun and exciting place to work! Here are some of the additional benefits: Canary Days:  As a company we want to ensure that the team has time to recharge. Each month we provide company wide days off to ensure there is at least one extended weekend or day off. Self Improvement Club: We meet each month and share our personal goals for the month. Each individual is provided a budget towards any purchases that help us achieve these goals. Professional Development Chats: We provide budget to help drive cross functional professional development conversations across the organization. Travel Reimbursement: Team members are able to visit our offices across New York, San Francisco or Dallas when they choose, and are provided a travel stipend for doing so.  Spend time working with the team in their office, and use the rest of your time exploring a new city! Personal Travel Reimbursement: If you stay at a hotel that Canary works with, we provide a credit towards your stay. Canary Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit, employ, train, compensate and promote talent regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information or any other protected characteristic. Responsibilities Own the end-to-end payments product strategy across the company. Define the multi-year vision that enables Canary to dramatically expand its Payments business. Expand payment processor integrations to unblock Sales and Activation globally. Prioritize integrations based on addressable market, enterprise deal requirements, and international needs. Build and scale payments infrastructure as a platform. Deliver capabilities like card-on-file, tokenization, fraud detection, chargeback prevention, surcharging, currency exchange, and reporting that all application teams can leverage. Coach for outcomes, build payments domain expertise, and develop technical product leaders. Orchestrate complex go-to-market motions with Sales, Partnerships, and Marketing. Structure payment processor agreements, enable the sales team on payment capabilities, and close enterprise deals where payments are a gating requirement. Operate in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. Make pragmatic build vs. buy decisions, ship MVPs to validate hypotheses, and iterate based on customer feedback and payment data. Qualifications 6+ years in product management, including at least 3+ years in payments. Deep understanding of payment processing ecosystems: acquirers, processors, gateways, tokenization, PCI compliance, interchange economics, and payment methods (cards, ACH, wallets, bank transfers). Track record of building and scaling payment products from 0 to 1 and at scale, with measurable business impact (TPV, revenue, margin improvement). Experience navigating regulated environments and complex technical integrations with payment processors and PSPs. Strong product judgment for balancing security, compliance, user experience, and commercial outcomes in payment flows. Proven ability to drive enterprise deals where payments are a critical component. Experience with Vertical B2B SaaS is a strong plus. Technical fluency to partner with Engineering on payments infrastructure, API design, event-driven architectures, and fault-tolerant systems. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities and competing stakeholder needs. Bonus: Experience with international payments, chargeback management, fraud prevention, or sales and catering / events management software. Compensation The base salary range for this role is $225,000 – $255,000 . In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a performance-based bonus paid quarterly, with a target of $20,000 - $40,000 annually. This brings the total expected cash compensation range to $ 240,000 - $290,000 . Compensation is subject to standard withholding and applicable taxes. Actual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s skill level, experience, and specific work location. This role may also include the opportunity to earn equity.
