Residency within the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS Combined Statistical Area, which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, and Linn, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, and Ray, is required. </strong></p>\n<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>Johnson County Government is seeking a Developer I to join our JIMS development team. This entry-level role is ideal for a developer early in their career who is eager to learn and grow while supporting justice-related systems. Under the guidance of senior developers, you will assist with maintaining legacy systems and developing enhancements that support our Justice partners. The role focuses on Microsoft-based technologies, browser-based applications, and foundational integration work across multiple platforms and databases. <strong>This position will remain open until filled. </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications on the Microsoft .NET platform</li>\n <li>Support business-critical systems using Rocket UniVerse and MS SQL databases</li>\n <li>Help develop and maintain browser-based applications</li>\n <li>Perform maintenance and minor enhancements to legacy Visual Basic and C# (C-Sharp) codebases</li>\n <li>Assist with developing and supporting APIs and basic application integrations</li>\n <li>Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues with guidance from senior staff</li>\n <li>Collaborate with team members, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions</li>\n <li>Follow established best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and change management</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Job Requirements</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>0–2 years of professional software development experience (or equivalent internships/education)</li>\n <li>Foundational experience or coursework in .NET technologies</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of relational databases such as MS SQL</li>\n <li>Exposure to Visual Basic and/or C# applications</li>\n <li>Familiarity with APIs and application integrations</li>\n <li>Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript</li>\n <li>Introductory experience with web application development</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Soft Skills Required</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Willingness to learn and take direction from senior developers</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills</li>\n <li>Curiosity and interest in problem-solving and technology</li>\n <li>Written communication skills, including basic documentation and summaries</li>\n <li>Oral communication skills for one-on-one and small group discussions</li>\n <li>Ability to ask questions, seek clarification, and accept feedback</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exposure to Rocket UniVerse (academic or professional)</li>\n <li>Introductory familiarity with Unix or AIX environments</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field</li>\n <li>Basic awareness of IIS (Internet Information Services)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills & Competencies</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Foundational problem-solving and debugging skills</li>\n <li>Ability to follow established development standards and processes</li>\n <li>Comfortable working with guidance in both legacy and modern technologies</li>\n <li>Growing ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em><strong>Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.
