JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and repair of steel components. Work involves using a variety of tools and equipment to cut, weld, and fabricate metal according to technical specifications, while ensuring all tasks comply with safety regulations and quality standards.
Work is performed under minimal supervision with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reads and interprets blueprints drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements
Measures, marks, and cuts steel materials using manual tools such as saws, torches, and grinders
Shapes and assembles steel components using hand tools and conventional fabrication equipment
Performs welding tasks (MIG, TIG, or stick) as needed to join metal parts
Operates equipment such as drill presses, ironworkers, and press brakes (manual)
Inspects finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
Maintains a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards
Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals
Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Follows organizational safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience as a fabricator, including some previous lead-worker responsibility or demonstrated ability to lead the work of others;
OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Skill in welding, cutting, and fabrication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical or vocational training in metal fabrication fundamentals, or related field
Bilingual – English and Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of steel fabrication and repair techniques
Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to equipment operation
Skill in the use of applicable department and organization specific software; ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required
Skill in using mathematics required for the work
Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment to cut, weld, and fabricate metal
Ability to teach reliability best practices, condition monitoring, and precision methods
Ability to plan, assign, and guide the work of assigned staff
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers
Ability to follow public safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Ability to maintain regular attendance to ensure efficient and effective performance of job duties

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
