We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Fred Hutch <strong>Boiler Plant Operating Engineer I/II</strong> is a building maintenance technician responsible for performing independently, tasks of a skilled nature, necessary for the operation, maintenance, and repair of Fred Hutch boilers, chillers, buildings, and support equipment.</p>\n<p>At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, all employees are expected to demonstrate a commitment to our values of collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity, and respect.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Individual will be assigned primarily Boiler Plant operations, maintenance, and repair. Additionally, when acting as Watch Stander, and will have responsibilities that will include responding to freezers, incubators, or any other alarms initiated by the Building Automation System. Individual may also be assigned to work with and/or train apprentices and other OEs.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Repair and maintain boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers and other pieces of similar equipment. This includes boiler tear downs and tube cleaning.</li>\n <li>Performs boiler and building rounds daily as required.</li>\n <li>Operate and respond to the Building Automation Systems.</li>\n <li>Maintains piping systems including valve replacement, steam trap troubleshooting and repair, temporary and permanent leak repairs, including emergency clean ups.</li>\n <li>Update the electronic log, respond to emails, and communicate as a team player to keep everyone in the loop.</li>\n <li>Complete work orders daily, assigned by the shop lead, in our computerized maintenance management system.</li>\n <li>Perform Watch Stander duties on an occasional weekend rotation.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have current Grade III City of Seattle Boiler Operator License or be able to obtain one within 6 months.</li>\n <li>Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License or ID.</li>\n <li>Physical skills necessary to climb, bend, stoop, lift and perform tasks utilizing ladders and scaffolds, etc.</li>\n <li>Must be able to lift 50 lbs.</li>\n <li>Dependable, on-time and proven good work habits.</li>\n <li>Good communications skills.</li>\n <li>Able to work a varied schedule including shift work.</li>\n <li>High School diploma or equivalent.</li>\n <li>Additionally, knowledgeable in at least two of the following areas: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, welding, steam, and hot water systems or refrigeration.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>OE I:</strong> A skilled professional who generally has over 5 years of experience in the operation, maintenance or repair of one or more of the systems outlined above or the completion of the apprentice program or trade school program.<strong>OE II:</strong> A skilled professional who has 3-4 years of experience in boiler room operations, equipment maintenance, construction, or similar trades related to mechanical maintenance.</p>\n<p><strong>OE I:</strong> This position is represented by IUOE-302. The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $40.70, which is inclusive of a $8.75 Central Pension Fund diversion.</p>\n<p><strong>OE II:</strong> This position is represented by IUOE-302. The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $37.18, which is inclusive of a $5.00 Central Pension Fund diversion.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Position is eligible for shift differentials, premiums for licenses, and other wage premiums as governed by the collective bargaining agreement.   Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
