Description
Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer in South, Central, and North Jersey. This position is open to collect resumes in anticipation of upcoming work.
Responsibilities
Administer the construction contract and review work for compliance with all governing specifications. Review work progress for compliance with the contract documents. Proactively review the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and/or prepare change orders needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommend improvements. Ensure job site safety by observing contractor operations and traffic conditions, making recommendations, and taking corrective action when necessary. Perform field inspections of contractor’s work to determine compliance with plans, specifications, special provisions, and utility agreements. Prepare reports and maintain accurate and complete project records. Calculate and document field quantities for payment purposes. Document as-built condition of constructed facility. Prepare contract change orders for making alterations, deviations, additions to, or deletions from the plans and specifications to ensure proper completion and construction. Review CPM schedule and identify and mitigate project risks. Complete a daily diary of pertinent activities and discussions held regarding the progress of the contractor’s work and interaction with the Senior Construction Manager. Assist in the resolution and response to contractor disputes in a timely manner. Prepare draft claim reports when required.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management of heavy civil engineering projects. Approximately 5 years of supervisory experience in the management of heavy civil infrastructure construction. Experience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on rail projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent. Registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Certified Construction Manager, preferred. Valid Driver’s License. The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000. The salary offered will be based on the applicant’s qualifications, education, experience and work location.
