Description

Overview This position serves as a key clinical and operational leader responsible for spearheading the implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical workflows, policies, and procedures across all health center sites. In close collaboration with the Chief Clinical Services Officer (CCSO), Medical Leadership, and Operations, this role ensures standardized, efficient, and compliant clinical practices that drive high-quality patient care. The Director of Clinical Operations functions as the subject matter expert for nursing and clinical support services, overseeing clinical competencies, clinician training department, regulatory compliance, equipment procurement, and quality improvement initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities Summary of Responsibilities: Works collaboratively with the CMO, CCSO, DCOO, Medical Leadership, Training Department, Quality Improvement, and Health Center Leadership to: Lead the design, development, and standardization of clinical workflows, policies, and procedures Oversee clinical equipment and medical supply procurement processes across all sites Ensure Medical Assistant (MA) and Nursing competencies, onboarding, and annual validations are completed and maintained Support the implementation and rollout of new clinical workflows and operational changes Monitor and enforce clinical compliance with regulatory, organizational, and quality standards Partner with health centers to drive clinical quality initiatives (HEDIS, RAF, patient outcomes) Coordinate audit readiness and compliance activities through health center leadership Serve as the organizational subject matter expert (SME) for nursing and clinical operations Performance Area 1: Clinical Workflow Development & Implementation Lead the end-to-end development of clinical workflows, including documentation, training alignment, and operational rollout Lead clinical training, CCSO, and Medical Leadership to ensure workflows are clinically sound, standardized, and scalable Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance patient flow, care delivery, and staff efficiency Ensure workflows align with regulatory requirements (CMS, DHCS, and other governing bodies) Support ongoing evaluation and refinement of workflows based on performance data and feedback Performance Area 2: Clinical Operations & Compliance Oversight Oversee organization-wide compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards Partner with nursing leadership to coordinate and monitor internal audits, site reviews, and corrective action plans Ensure all clinical operations meet licensure and audit requirements Serve as escalation point for clinical compliance risks and operational challenges Monitor adherence to standing orders, protocols, and clinical guidelines Performance Area 3: Clinical Staff Competency & Training Support Ensure completion and tracking of MA and Nursing competencies, certifications, and ongoing education requirements Oversee the clinical training Department to align clinical education with workflow updates and operational needs Support onboarding and continuous development of clinical staff Identify skill gaps and implement targeted training and competency programs PERFORMANCE AREA 4: Equipment & Supply Chain Oversight Lead the procurement, standardization, and distribution of clinical equipment and medical supplies Ensure equipment meets clinical, regulatory, and operational standards Collaborate with Finance and Operations to maintain cost-effective and efficient supply management Oversee vaccine inventory processes and compliance of vaccine programs. Establish inventory levels and oversee utilization volume. PERFORMANCE AREA 5: Quality Improvement & Clinical Engagement Partner with health centers to drive clinical quality initiatives and performance improvement efforts Provide clinical insight into HEDIS, RAF, and population health strategies Support implementation of quality improvement projects and performance monitoring tools Engage directly with site leadership to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience PERFORMANCE AREA 6: Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a clinical operations leader bridging medical, nursing, and operational teams Maintain strong communication across departments to ensure alignment and execution Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to organizational strategy and clinical operations planning Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred License/Certification: Possess a valid CA RN License Possess a valid Lifesaving Certification Possess a valid driver's license Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a health care setting, preferably in an ambulatory care setting. Management/Supervisory experience required. Skills: Strong knowledge of clinical operations, regulatory standards, and nursing practices Proven ability to lead process improvement and workflow optimization Experience with clinical training, competency validation, and staff development Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities The pay range for this Exempt position starts at $102,995.16 a year.
