Description

Why We’re Here At TRUE, our purpose is rooted in building genuine, long-term relationships with our clients and our team. We believe that trust and honesty are the foundations of strong connections, and we approach our work with the goal of supporting not just projects, but people. This philosophy shapes our culture and our day-to-day work. We prioritize well-being, value quality relationships, and invest in a workplace where our team members can thrive. How We Do It Differently Exceptional engineering starts with exceptional service. Thanks to our low staff turnover, our clients work consistently with a dedicated team of experienced experts who understand their unique needs and goals. This continuity enables us to deliver practical, common-sense solutions that tackle real challenges without unnecessary complexity. We believe meaningful relationships drive the best results; by staying closely connected to our clients, we exceed expectations and foster lasting trust. About the Role We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Trail, BC. This role will focus on provision of engineering services during construction – including contract preparation, contract administration, and completion of field inspections.  The successful candidate will also apply construction knowledge into the design of municipal infrastructure - including roadworks, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, and storm drainage networks.  As a member of our team in Trail, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects throughout the Kootenays and apply your expertise in practical, client-centered ways. Key Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role include: Conduct field surveys, inspections, and data collection to support design and construction. Prepare construction contracts and provide construction contract administration services. Complete construction inspections and reporting. In addition, this role will involve: Design of infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including creation of site grading plans, road design, and water/sewer/storm infrastructure plans and profiles. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with project teams - including Engineers, technologists, and other professionals to achieve project goals. What We’re Looking For Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, strengths and interests: 5 – 10 years’ experience in a civil engineering technology role, preferably in a municipal infrastructure environment. Graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology program. Registered or eligible to register with ASTTBC as an Applied Science Technologist. Strong verbal (English) communication skills. An outgoing, positive personality with relationship-based perspective. Goal oriented with ambition for continuous improvement and increased responsibility. Excellent organization and planning skills. Commitment, energy and a strong work ethic. Proficient with construction contract preparation and contract administration, especially using MMCD. Experience with field data collection including topographic survey work using robotic total station equipment. Experience with construction field inspections. Experience in creating civil infrastructure drawings with AutoCAD Civil 3D (including grading, pipe networks, and corridors). Class 5 Drivers License and personal vehicle are required. Why Join TRUE? TRUE has provided engineering, land surveying and planning consulting services to our municipal, First Nation and private sector clients throughout the interior of British Columbia since 1986. We have offices strategically located in Williams Lake, Kamloops, Penticton and Trail in order to efficiently support our clients in the BC interior. We are committed to the long-term success of our clients and strive to deliver professional service with a focus on creative and practical solutions. Community Impact: Work with small local government clients and local developers, guiding projects that bring meaningful change to communities. All about the Team: A family-feel atmosphere within a team of approximately 80 employees. Relationship-based Culture: Our People, Client Service, and Integrity are our core values. We believe in TRUE Benefits to Complement Your Lifestyle: Competitive salaries, extended health and dental coverage, maternity leave top-up, vacation time, paid overtime, profit sharing, RRSP matching, health and wellness benefits, philanthropy initiatives, flexible work arrangements, and more! Why Live in the West Kootenays? Trail and the surrounding West Kootenay region offer an exceptional quality of life. Nestled in the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, this area is known for its stunning natural beauty, four-season outdoor recreation, and affordable cost of living. Here’s what makes the region special: Outdoor Adventure: World-class skiing and snowboarding at nearby resorts, endless hiking and biking trails, and pristine lakes and rivers for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Community and Lifestyle: Friendly, close-knit communities with vibrant arts and culture scenes, farmers’ markets, and local festivals.
