Description Speech-Language Pathologist (Clinical Fellowship Year – CF- Y) About Us The Children's Guild is a nonprofit organization and affiliate of TranZed Alliance — one of the most experienced child-serving organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Our Baltimore special education school serves students with emotional disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and other diverse learning needs in a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment. Our interdisciplinary team of special educators, therapists, social workers, clinicians, and support staff work collaboratively to ensure every student thrives — academically, socially, emotionally, and developmentally. We are committed to supporting the professional growth of emerging speech-language pathologists through structured mentorship, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development. Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist (CF-Y) will provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services to students with diverse communication needs in The Children's Guild's Baltimore special education school. Under the supervision of a licensed, ASHA-certified Clinical Fellow Mentor, the CF-Y SLP will complete their Clinical Fellowship Year while delivering high-quality, evidence-based speech and language services aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). This position is an excellent opportunity for a newly graduated SLP to launch their career in a supportive, mission-driven, school-based environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Services Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and screenings for students referred for related services. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans aligned with each student's IEP communication goals. Provide individual and group speech-language therapy to students with a variety of communication disorders, including: Language delays and disorders Articulation and phonological disorders Fluency disorders Social communication and pragmatic language challenges Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) needs Voice disorders Monitor, measure, and document student progress toward IEP speech-language goals on an ongoing basis. Adjust treatment approaches based on student response to intervention and data-driven decision making. IEP & Documentation Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing evaluation results, present levels of performance, and progress data. Develop measurable, meaningful IEP speech-language goals in collaboration with the IEP team. Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation including session notes, evaluation reports, progress reports, and related service logs in compliance with ASHA, COMAR, and agency standards. Contribute to related service tracking and compliance auditing as directed. Collaboration & Teamwork Collaborate with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, BCBAs, and clinical staff as part of the multidisciplinary team. Integrate speech-language goals into classroom instruction and daily routines in partnership with the teaching team. Communicate student progress, clinical observations, and concerns to the supervising SLP, Director of Related Services, and relevant team members. Participate in team meetings, school-wide PBIS initiatives, and professional development activities. Family Engagement Build positive, trust-based relationships with families and serve as a resource for information about speech-language development and therapeutic strategies. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, IEP goals, and home-based strategies. Participate in parent meetings, IEP conferences, and family engagement events as appropriate. Professional Development Complete the ASHA Clinical Fellowship Year under the supervision of an approved CF Mentor in accordance with ASHA requirements. Actively engage in clinical supervision sessions, incorporating feedback into practice consistently. Demonstrate commitment to reflective practice, continuous learning, and evidence-based care. Adhere to ASHA's Code of Ethics and all applicable professional, legal, and organizational standards. Pursue Maryland licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist upon successful completion of the CF- Y. Qualifications Required Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program (required). ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) candidate — eligible to begin Clinical Fellowship Year. Maryland state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligibility to obtain licensure (required). Knowledge of speech-language disorders in children and evidence-based intervention approaches. Familiarity with IDEA, IEP development, and school-based service delivery. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Genuine passion for working with children with diverse learning and communication needs. Preferred Prior clinical experience in a school-based or pediatric setting (graduate practicum experience accepted). Familiarity with AAC systems, tools, and assessment frameworks. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and PBIS frameworks. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or other languages). Experience with electronic documentation or IEP management systems.
