This role partners closely with the CFO to translate financial strategy into disciplined execution, scalable processes, and reliable reporting.</p>\n<p>The VP, Controller is a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who challenges existing processes, strengthens controls, and fosters a high-performance culture. They balance technical accounting expertise with strong leadership and collaboration skills, ensuring accurate financial information supports sound business decisions.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve as the senior leader responsible for accounting operations, reporting, and financial controls, supporting the CFO and broader senior leadership team. </li>\n <li>Partner with the CFO to execute financial strategy, improve operational efficiency, and enhance financial discipline across the organization. </li>\n <li>Lead, develop, and mentor accounting and finance team members, fostering engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement. </li>\n <li>Oversee the following functions: </li>\n <li>Accounting and financial close</li>\n <li>Budgeting and expense management support</li>\n <li>Premium audit</li>\n <li>Agency bill</li>\n <li>Accounts receivable</li>\n <li>Coordination with treasury activities, in partnership with the CFO</li>\n <li>Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal standards. </li>\n <li>Maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory and Berkley requirements. </li>\n <li>Lead audit activities, including internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring successful outcomes and timely resolution of findings. </li>\n <li>Support short- and long-term financial planning by providing reliable financial data, analysis, and insight. </li>\n <li>Analyze financial results and performance trends, identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement. </li>\n <li>Drive process improvements and system enhancements to support scalability, automation, and efficiency. </li>\n <li>Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure financial processes align with operational needs. </li>\n <li>Represent the organization within Berkley on accounting, reporting, and control-related matters as appropriate.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>May perform other functions as assigned</em></strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>7+ years of finance/operations experience</li>\n <li>Financial insurance experience a preferred</li>\n <li>Strategic and innovative thinking, creative problem solving, data driven</li>\n <li>Exceptional relationship building skills to work successfully with multiple business partners.</li>\n <li>Exceptional organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks</li>\n <li>Strong project management and leadership skills; the ability to organize and drive projects with diverse stakeholders</li>\n <li>Strong orientation toward achieving results, attention to detail, and proven ability to drive toward long-term goals</li>\n <li>Ability to be nimble and rapidly pivot when needed</li>\n <li>Motivated to challenge the status quo </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Education</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Company Details</h2>ttps://www.berkley-tech.com/ The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer.
