With offices located in Ladson, Walterboro, West Ashley Downtown Charleston, and Mount Pleasant, Carolina Cataract & Laser Center is your community provider for quality surgical eye care in the Charleston, SC area.</p>\n<h2>Position Summary</h2>\n<p>We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Ophthalmic skills include: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Obtaining and documenting patient history</li>\n <li>Determining visual acuity</li>\n <li>Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes</li>\n <li>Retinoscopy and refinement for prescribing purposes</li>\n <li>Advanced lensometry</li>\n <li>Logarithmic pupillary assessment</li>\n <li>Static & kinetic visual field testing</li>\n <li>PAM, BAT, and advanced ocular motility assessment</li>\n <li>Manual keratometry</li>\n <li>Osmolarity testing</li>\n <li>Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician</li>\n <li>Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services</li>\n <li>Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)</li>\n <li>Pre-operative preparation of patient</li>\n <li>Maintenance and repair of equipment and instruments</li>\n <li>Perform ocular imaging including OCT, Topography, fundus photography</li>\n <li>Preparation of surgical instruments and equipment</li>\n <li>Aseptic technique</li>\n <li>Operating room assistance for minor and refractive surgeries</li>\n <li>Preparation and labeling of microscope slide and culture media obtained by physician</li>\n <li>Performing amblyopia treatment including patching, drops, and prism</li>\n <li>Intraocular lens power calculations</li>\n <li>Post-operative education</li>\n <li>Escalation and triage of urgent patient needs/care</li>\n <li>Patient education, advanced refracting skills including over-refraction of contact lenses, contact lens fit/adjustment, advanced slit lamp technique</li>\n <li>A-scan diagnostic measurements</li>\n <li>Biometry measurements</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>7 + years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred </li>\n <li>COT Required/COMT Preferred </li>\n <li>Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required </li>\n <li>Must be flexible with traveling to various locations </li>\n <li>Ability to pay attention to detail • Ability to maintain confidentiality </li>\n <li>The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable </li>\n <li>The ability to recognize inconsistencies </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Education/Certifications: Graduation from an accredited high school</p>\n<h2>Company Benefits</h2>\n<p>We offer a competitive benefits package to our employees:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical</li>\n <li>Dental</li>\n <li>Vision</li>\n <li>401k w/ Match</li>\n <li>HSA/FSA</li>\n <li>Telemedicine</li>\n <li>Generous PTO Package</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We also offer the following benefits for FREE:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Employee Discounts and Perks</li>\n <li>Employee Assistance Program</li>\n <li>Group Life/AD&D </li>\n <li>Short Term Disability Insurance </li>\n <li>Long Term Disability Insurance </li>\n</ul>\n<p>EyeSouth Partners is an equal opportunity employer.
