    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>\n<p>VHB’s Williamsburg, Virginia and Richmond, VA offices are seeking a <strong>Survey Equipment Operator</strong> to join our Survey/Geomatics team.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Operation, transport and setup of Robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other land surveying equipment</li>\n <li>Land surveying including boundary line, topographic survey, construction stakeout and utility surveys</li>\n <li>Reconnaissance and recovery of land surveying markers through use of hand tools and digging</li>\n <li>Construction stakeout of proposed improvements, including installation of stakes through use of sledgehammers and hand tools</li>\n <li>Operation and maintenance of surveying equipment </li>\n <li>Documenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Attributes</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficient in reading, understanding, and evaluating the significance of survey, right-of-way, engineering, and architectural drawings with respect to each survey project</li>\n <li>Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and Robotic Instruments and mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry</li>\n <li>Ability to learn and understand the basics of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys</li>\n <li>Able to think critically</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED</li>\n <li>0-1+ year of experience using standard survey equipment (i.e. RTK GPS, total station, levels)</li>\n <li>Valid driver’s license </li>\n <li>Must be willing to travel and stay overnight for assignments outside local area (anticipated to be less than 15% of assignments)</li>\n <li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Building what’s next, together.</strong></p>\n<p>Our people make the difference.
