Overview Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Performs a variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties to assist practitioners and other members of the healthcare team in providing high quality patient care throughout the health care system. The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall function of the clinic. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the flow of patients for their assigned areas (as applicable) each day. They perform duties and procedure as describes by the Primary Responsibilities section. This position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week. Responsibilities All Essential Functions of the MA I and MA II positions Act as a primary preceptor/trainer Work with leadership team to facilitate training of new hires and other training initiatives Assist nurse or provider with procedures, as indicated by role Collaborate with clinic leadership to develop operational strategies and process improvement efforts Qualifications Required: Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or Military Training or experience may satisfy training and experience requirement Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire as applicable, depending on location Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two year. Lead process improvement initiatives Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol Experienced in Electronic Medical Records Demonstrates initiative as evidenced by advancing technical skills, sharing knowledge with others, and taking on more responsibility Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Proficient in computer skills to support operations Familiarity with medical terminology Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve. Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment. Preferred: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program. The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.83 to $47.73 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position. This position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
