Management responsibilities include the direct supervision of nursing and medical support staff and coordination of client medical care to ensure the delivery of timely and appropriate medical services. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to provide a safe and comfortable medically supervised process. Provides in-service orientation, training and competency evaluation to agency nursing staff and medical support staff. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Develops nursing and medical support staff schedules. </li>\n <li>Monitors completion of medical support and nursing staff assignments, identifies lags in the daily flow and intervenes as necessary to improve efficiency. Maintains and/or improves levels of productivity set by administration and the needs of patients.</li>\n <li>Supervises care provided by nursing staff to ensure current competency and best practice standards.</li>\n <li>Conducts orientation for new nursing and medical support staff and provides in-service training as needed. </li>\n <li>Provides medication administration training and competency evaluation for required staff. </li>\n <li>Provides training and competency evaluation for CLIA waived tests for required staff </li>\n <li>Manages large inventory of controlled substances accurately.</li>\n <li>Completes daily and monthly regulatory reporting </li>\n <li>Maintains inventories of methadone, stock items and orders supply and medication as indicated.</li>\n <li>Maintains narcotic records as required by regulatory agencies.</li>\n <li>Assists physicians by identifying, reporting and addressing changes in the client’s health status.</li>\n <li>Communicates daily with clinical staff to identify client needs so that they can be incorporated into the daily work schedule.</li>\n <li>Provides “on call” coverage as required and assigns other nursing staff to the “on call” schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage.</li>\n <li>Supervises staff to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures for client record documentation and billing information management.</li>\n <li>Ensures integrity, proper organization, completeness and confidentiality of the client record in accordance with agency policy and procedure.</li>\n <li>Ensures proper safekeeping and dispensing of controlled narcotics</li>\n <li>Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, prepares doses for direct administration and dispensing of methadone and other medications, providing physician-ordered medical treatment, transcribing orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture.</li>\n <li>Performs and documents Nursing Intake/Medical History in accordance with agency policy and procedure.</li>\n <li>Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior and participates in treatment planning</li>\n <li>Prepares labels and take-home bottles of medication for self-administration by client for periods when the medical clinic is closed or for clients who are permitted to self-medicate in accordance with agency policies.</li>\n <li>Records and reports any spillage that may occur while dispensing a patient’s medication.</li>\n <li>Participates in the on-going assessment of patients’ needs.</li>\n <li>Follows protocols for methadone dispensing as established by OASAS.</li>\n <li>Performs physical count and tallies medication at the end of the day.</li>\n <li>Completes follow-up assessment of clients who are treated for chronic and/or acute illnesses to monitor effectiveness of prescribed treatments.</li>\n <li>Monitors lab values to identify abnormalities and reports such to attending physician or physician’s assistant.</li>\n <li>Reviews medical record to assess care being provided and to ensure continuity of care.</li>\n <li>Responses to medical emergencies as needed.</li>\n <li>Manages large inventory of controlled substances accurately</li>\n <li>Documents all assessments, interventions and response to treatments in the progress notes. </li>\n <li>Maintains inventories of methadone, stock items and order supplies and medications as indicated.</li>\n <li>Maintains narcotic records as required by regulatory agencies.</li>\n <li>Reviews medication orders and obtains renewal orders or orders to discontinue prescribed medications in accordance with policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Identifies quality of care issues and makes recommendations for improvement to Program Director, and Medical Director.</li>\n <li>Attends case conferences and other meetings as scheduled by the Program Director.</li>\n <li>Keeps abreast of changes in field.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as requested.  </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Who You Will Be</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>NYS RN licensure.</li>\n <li>BLS certification</li>\n <li>Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing.</li>\n <li>At least Five (5) years nursing supervisory experience with a minimum of which, must include 3 years of hospital, substance use or other behavior healthcare supervisory nursing experience.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG.</li>\n <li>Possession of strong time management, writing and communication skills.</li>\n <li>Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills; ability to supervise, coach, mentor, develop, train and teach nurses/other clinical discipline providers.</li>\n <li>Available to work a flexible schedule and be to work all shifts as needed in response to program and staff needs.</li>\n <li>Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.</li>\n <li>Strong leadership and effective management skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of federal, state and local law and regulation governing substance use treatment programs.</li>\n <li>Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.</li>\n</ul>",
