As part of our team you will be responsible for providing respiratory care to patients in acute, chronic, and emergency situations. You will perform routine ventilator and artificial airway treatments in critical and general care areas. You will assists physicians and perform routine and respiratory care activities as necessary. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In addition to hands on patient care, Respiratory Therapists are required to accurately and completely document respiratory care by following the established charting procedure. You will select, assemble and check respiratory care equipment for proper operation and cleanliness. Employs the use of evidence-based practice, department and service area initiatives, and grows individually as a professional. Adheres to the Emory Behavioral Standards Adheres to the Emory Service Culture Guidelines Provides Patient and Family Centered Care Consistently meets departmental/hospital quality & safety goals.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Key Responsibility Category: Level of Competency. Completes and maintains all competencies. Refers and Guides others in the use of policies and procedures in the clinical setting. Assures competence to function if working in new area. Assures equipment is functioning properly and is ready for emergent situations; taking items out of service and reporting failures as needed. Serves as a role model for peers.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Key Responsibility Category: Assumption of Duties.  Assesses unit work and report to supervisor/charge anticipates needs. Provides mentor level support for respiratory care practitioner I.  Assists with patient care team discussions during complex patient care situations. Competent in clinical areas as appropriate. Competent and functions as a Preceptor.  Must complete Preceptor course.  Competent in 1 of the following critical/specialty care areas: NICU, ICU, ECMO, CVICU, ED,CPET, Pulmonary Rehab IP(interventional pulmonary) etc. Other duties as assigned.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Key Responsibility Category: Service Area Support. Encouraged to participate as a super user to department related in-services and annual skill sessions. Suggest modifications to care to patient care team. Acquires resources not readily available. Serves as a resource for ventilator management .Regularly attends department meetings (75%). Regularly attends in services and educational offerings .</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Key Responsibility Category: Professional Activity. Supports the evaluation of new equipment. Reviews policies and procedures to guide practice. Highly encouraged to attend one professional Local, State or National Respiratory conference every two years. Serves as a preceptor/mentor for RCP level 1 respiratory therapists. 15 CEs Required annually.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates degree in Respiratory Care. Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Care or related science preferred.</li>\n <li>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years or greater JUDGEMENT: Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader.</li>\n <li>LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Currently licensed as an active Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Georgia.</li>\n <li>Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.</li>\n <li>Active membership in American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>MUST HAVE <strong>ONE</strong> OF THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>ECMO training certification</li>\n <li>Intubation certification</li>\n <li>FCCS instructor</li>\n <li>PALS certification NRP certification</li>\n <li>AARC Pulmonary Disease Educator AARC Asthma Educator Certificate</li>\n <li>AARC Pulmonary Rehabilitation certificate</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Other Requirements (if applicable):</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) required</li>\n <li>ACLS required for adult critical care within 6 months of hire</li>\n <li>NPS preferred if working in Special care nursery/NICU</li>\n <li>ACCS preferred if working in Critical Care</li>\n <li>CPFT and/or RPFT preferred if working in PFT</li>\n <li>AE-C preferred if working in the Asthma Clinic</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required.
