Description

The Attleboro Norton YMCA seeks a motivated, passionate, and innovative individual as a leader for our Health and Wellness team! Night and weekend availability is critical as well as the ability to lead a team across a 7 day a week operation. Proven history of creating, driving, and maintaining diverse revenue streams and creating innovative programming is required!! Position Overview: Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Health & Wellness Director is responsible for implementation, delivery, supervision and evaluation of all personal fitness, goal-oriented and nutrition based wellness programs as well as their correlating facilities and special events. Innovative, dynamic and creative programming and marketing methods are essential elements of the position. Proven ability to market programs across a variety of mediums is highly desired. Essential Functions: Oversee planning,developmentand delivery of all personal and small group training (including fitness floor staff), nutrition education, and lifestyle change programming as well asspecial events. Stay up to date on latest offerings, trends and resources in the Health and Wellness industry to ensure our Y is a preferred provider for community health and well-being.Create,planandmonitorcreative and engaging social media and other marketing and communications to promote programs and increase member engagement in wellness programs. Provide innovative and unique programming for members at every stage of our continuum – casual, committed,connectedto ensure those at all levels of their fitness journey have opportunities to increase their health through our Y programming.Create andmonitorsmall communities of like-minded individuals with similar goals. Recruit, train, supervise and manage engaged personnel in all programs. Maintain the highest quality of staff, through on-going staff training and evaluations as well astimelyfollow upandfollow throughwith employee relation issues. Provide managerial oversight for all department budgets and ensure that the financial health of the YMCA is supported byappropriate decision-making. Maintain necessary statistical data and reports. Ensure that schedules for programs and activities are planned and communicated ina timelyand efficient manner, sharing resources asappropriate.This position is also responsible for equipment up-keep, cleaning, ordering, and re-leasing in line with our budgetary guidelines to ensure our members and guests have access to the equipment they need to meet their goals. Work to ensure a risk free environment. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports as well as routine checks of machines and equipment to ensure a high quality and safe experience for members and guests. Work harmoniously as a team member, ensuringequitabledivision of time and resources between all departments and role modeling a flexible, adaptive mindset as well as a positive attitude. Participate as a member of our Branch Leadership Staff, lending support to colleagues, driving program development, and committing to an unparalleled member experience across all departments. Maintain appropriate certifications such as CPR, First Aid and Instructor Levels as required. Effect on End Results: The Healthy Living Director is responsible for the overall success of the Association’s programming as well as membership overall. This position is primarily concerned with ensuring quality programs and building positive long-term relationships with members. Essential to the overall team atmosphere, the Healthy Living Director must have consistent communications with the Vice President of Operations. This position and its departments are viewed as a resource to the total Association as it strives to meet its mission and goals. Therefore, successful fulfillment of this position should be measured by: Continued growth of the budget,membershipand program enrollment. Member satisfaction and delivery of quality programs. Increasedutilizationof volunteers in YMCA programs. Increased diversity in membership to match the demographics of the community we serve. Achievement of departmentoperatingand financialobjectives. Demonstration of leadership in educating,motivatingand measuring staff on achievement of desired department and Association goals,outcomesand behaviors. Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have (5) five years' experience in the fitness industry with at least (2) two years in a supervisory capacity. Bachelor'sdegree from a four-year college/university in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field ispreferred. Personal training certification through a reputable organization (i.e.ACE, ACSM, NASM). AcquireCPR, First Aid, AED, and 02 within60 daysof hire. YMCA experiencestronglypreferred. Must be a people-person with the ability to build relationships with and among members. Enthusiastic team player and healthy role model with a solid understanding of the YMCA. Knowledge and successful experience and skills in staff supervision, fitness programming,marketingand promotions. Self-motivated, strong leadership, excellent oral and written communication skills, and good administrative skills. Physical Demands: Ability tophysically and verbally interact with members and staff. At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50 lbs.
