Overview Sign-On/Retention incentives: up to $20,000* At Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), our Sonographers are part of a highly collaborative team, working alongside Radiology professionals, Obstetricians, Gynecologists, and Urologists in one of the most technologically advanced imaging environments in the country. This is a unique opportunity to practice at the forefront of ultrasound, supporting a wide range of specialized clinical needs. In this role, you’ll perform a diverse mix of advanced ultrasound exams and procedures that require strong technical expertise and the ability to navigate complex cases from specialized clinics. Our Sonographers practice at the top of their license, performing sophisticated studies including high-risk obstetrics, gynecologic imaging, infertility workups, and general ultrasound—all on the latest GE and Philips systems. What truly sets our team apart is our culture. We foster a supportive, team-oriented environment where collaboration, continuous learning, and exceptional patient care are at the center of everything we do. We welcome candidates who are graduates of an AMA-approved allied health program, BCLS-certified, and ARDMS-certified. While OB experience is preferred, we are excited to train the right candidate who is eager to build expertise in high-risk obstetrics and advance their imaging career. We are offering a $20,000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *External hires only, and certain conditions apply. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week night shift position. The night shift receives a 20% shift differential. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required. Responsibilities Selects equipment and imaging modalities, position, and prep to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies. Operates ultrasonography equipment to perform an examination. Evaluates the accuracy and quality of scan results. Reviews patient record for prior findings/test results to aid in determining exam completeness. Selects and records preliminary study results. Prepares preliminary reports using the department-specific structured reporting system. Takes measurements and labels them. Gathers and communicates ultrasound findings to the physician for interpretation. Consults with the radiologist about unusual scans and the need for re-scanning. Performs transducer decontamination and maintains log entries, reporting any discrepancies to the Education Coordinator. Performs duties associated with interventional (biopsy) procedures. Modifies billing fields to reflect the exam being performed. Instructs and oversees students, residents, and physician staff in the unit's operations. Maintains Ultrasonography equipment. Recognizes malfunctions and/or need for servicing. Ensures quality control procedures are maintained and maintains orderliness of the ultrasound laboratory. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Graduate of accredited program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and registry eligible required. Minimum one (1) year of experience performing a wide range of general and specialty ultrasound exams preferred. Experience in high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, complex infertility, and guided biopsies preferred. Possesses a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and/or physiological data. Competent in Ultrasound reporting systems. Required Licensure/Certifications Radiographer NH OR Radiation Therapist NH OR Medical Imaging/Rad Ther - NH OR Sonographer NH BLS required at hire.
