This role is crucial for ensuring the high availability, performance, and scalability of our data infrastructure, supporting Blue Prism&#39;s innovative automation solutions.</p><p></p><p><b><u>What You Will Get To Do:</u></b></p><ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions primarily within public cloud environments (Azure, AWS).</li><li>Design, build, and optimise cloud-based data lake architectures to support scalable, secure, and high-performance data ingestion, storage, and analytics workloads.</li><li>Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for performance optimisation and tuning.</li><li>Manage database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.</li><li>Implement and enforce database security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g. Python, T-SQL, PowerShell) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform).</li><li>Collaborate with development teams to optimise database schemas, queries, and application interactions.</li><li>Provide expert guidance and support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.<br />Participate in capacity planning and resource management for database systems.</li><li>Occasionally, work directly with end-clients to maintain and optimise their data.</li><li>Use Git for version control, managing branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative code reviews.</li><li>Manage and track work in Jira.</li><li>Document database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><u>What You Will Bring:</u></b></p><ul><li>Bachelor&#39;s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>5&#43; years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on cloud database platforms (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, Google Cloud SQL/Spanner).</li><li>Expert-level proficiency in relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.</li><li>Demonstrable experience with database performance tuning, optimisation, and monitoring tools.</li><li>Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices, including encryption, access control, and auditing.</li><li>Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, PowerShell) for automation.</li><li>Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform) is highly desirable.</li><li>Solid understanding of cloud architecture concepts and services.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.</li><li>Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Speciality, Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b><u>Why You Will Love It Here! </u></b></p><ul><li><b>Your Future:</b> Professional Development Reimbursement, including access to SS&amp;C University</li><li><b>Work/Life Balance:</b> Competitive holiday scheme</li><li><b>Your Wellbeing:</b> Competitive benefits designed to support the well-being of our staff</li><li><b>Diversity &amp; Inclusion:</b> Committed to Welcoming, Celebrating and Thriving on Diversity</li><li><b>Training:</b> Hands-On, Team-Customised throughout your career</li></ul><p></p><p><i>We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds to enable us to bring diverse perspectives to our thinking and conversation.
